Frivolous Friday! Balboa Park: Adventure & a Quiz!
It’s Frivolous Friday!
Thought I would share some of the fun I squeezed in this week (in between all my portrait sessions and retouching work.)
Yep, this happened #1:
Have I mentioned lately how much I love Balboa Park?
(Always have, always will!)
I’ve been at Balboa Park so many times in the past few weeks for
Class of 2025 High School and College Portrait Sessions
and I always arrive early (just how I roll!) so I have time to stroll around.
(Bonus points if you know where this was captured…?)
There’s always something beautiful to see in Balboa Park – like a peek of our city from the Cabrillo Bridge.
Did you know Balboa Park and the Cabrillo Bridge was originally built for the 1915 Panama-California Exposition?
AND it was the first cantilevered, multiple-arched bridge to be built in Southern California.
It is nearly 1,500 feet long and is 125 feet high.
And DID YOU KNOW there used to be a pond at the base of the bridge?
(Instead of the 163 freeway?) Row boating was a fun pastime!
I thought I would take some photos to challenge you to a contest.
So keep clicking and tell me how many of these places you can name.
Look at the picture then read the caption to see if you were correct – let me know how you did!
I’m starting with an easy one:

Yep, this happened #3:
Tried something new while I was strolling around the park – a Lavender Iced Tea – from the cute little coffee cart next to the Prado Restaurant.
The drink was very refreshing on a warm, windy day and I’m glad I ordered it, but I won’t need to order it again, if you know what I mean. 😉
And BTW – can I mention that Balboa Park is an AMAZING LOCATION FOR PORTRAITS!
I’m now booking through summer!
What can I say: I’m Feeling Blessed!
And do you know what else I’m blessed by? Capturing amazing moments for you to treasure for a lifetime!
