Frivolous Friday! Swimming with the Sharks & Half a Donut

It’s Frivolous Friday!

Thought I would share some of the fun I squeezed in this week (in between all my portrait sessions and retouching work.)

Yep, this happened #1:

  I SWAM WITH SHARKS AND LIVED!
Here’s a little video I captured with my underwater camera of me swimming with
some Leopard Sharks at La Jolla Shores.
 If you are quiet, they will swim around underneath you it is so amazing to see….and a teeny bit death defying.

 Interesting Tidbit:   The sharks swim in the warm shallow water from July-December
so this is a great time to visit while the water is warm!
Scientists believe that in La Jolla 97 percent of the sharks are female and they all are pregnant,
and so it appears that these pregnant female leopard sharks are in a sense incubating their developing embryos,
like a mother bird sits on her eggs to maintain that ideal temperature for development.

Just grab a snorkel (and fins if you have them) and wade out into the ocean right in front of the Marine Room Restaurant at La Jolla Shores and look down.

 

Yep, this happened #2:

Baked my first batch of homemade donuts this week in honor of my Daughter In Love’s HALF birthday (yes, I like celebrating any and ALL holidays!)

Wanted to try out my donut baking pan and thought it might be funny to send her a pic of a half donut that was celebrated and eaten in her honor on her half birthday!

Here’s the final result:

And I made it to that point by whipping up a Buttermilk Donut Recipe (recipe HERE if you are interested)

I whipped up a fun and tasty glaze – in purple OF COURSE….

And YOU KNOW I had to add sprinkles….OF COURSE!

I celebrated Shelby’s her half birthday and my silliness in one swoop….lol

What can I say:  I’m Feeling Blessed!
