Frivolous Friday! Wishing for S’more Summer

It’s Frivolous Friday!

Thought I would share some of the fun I squeezed in this week (in between all my portrait sessions and retouching work.)

Yep, this happened:

Even though summer doesn’t officially end until later this month, I always feel like Labor Day is THE END, how about you…?  Boo hoo!

So I’m trying to take one last big BITE out of summer!

I started with arms-full of ocean butterflies! (Don’t you think these shells really do look like butterflies???)

I ask you, is there anything better than a walk on the beach…?

Went to a Padre Game (and enjoyed all those yummy ballpark calories and the company probably more than the baseball….lol.)

We are still enjoying the bounty of our garden…

The hubs and I have been enjoying either a jacuzzi soak or a fire in our firepit most nights this summer.

Last night I decided to roast up some marshmallows for extra special end-of-the-summer s’mores!

Guess which Marshmallow was mine?  (One of my goals in life is to make my hubby roll his eyes as much as possible….lol)

Fire + Sugar = DELISH

And side note – does this look like a parade of Heffalumps and Woozles from Fantasia to you?

Fun Fact: No one knows for sure who invented the s’more. However, the first published recipe for “some mores” was in a 1927 Girl Scout publication – here’s the actual recipe!

We don’t know for sure whether the Girl Scouts were the first to make “some mores,” no one else has claimed to have invented them.

And as I was researching where s’mores originated I learned that some people like fresh fruit in their s’more…

So I had to try that….

And you can never go wrong with a smile!

And speaking of roasting – which number are you – I’m a 3 and could maybe do a 4.  But I’ll throw away everything else….it needs to be perfect or I won’t eat it.

And as much as I love a roasted marshmallow, you couldn’t pay me to eat a raw one….uggg!

And just in case you don’t have a fire pit – I found a S’mores oven recipe for you!

To start, trim your graham cracker into a circle (not required, but so cute!)   I used a juice glass as a template and a sharp knife easily trimmed it.

Pop  them under the broiler for about 3 minutes….keep your eye on them – the marshmallows go from #3 to #6 in the blink of an eye…lol

When it’s perfectly browned and soft,  squish on a Hershey’s kiss!

And EAT!   Oh my they were delish!!!

….and I it also occurred to me that a caramel Hershey kiss might be even tastier….what do you think?

Let me know if I inspired you to add them to your summer fun!

What can I say:  I’m Feeling Blessed!
