Frivolous Friday! A Caribbean Cruise!

It’s Frivolous Friday!

Thought I would share some of the fun I squeezed in this week…

Yep, this happened:

I just got home from an amazing adventure on the Caribbean Sea!

We joined some friends and family for a week of sun and smiles AND to watch my son and his beautiful new bride say their “I do’s!”

I had so many photos and such a long story, I decided to split the adventure and tell the cruise part of the tale this week and the wedding part of the story next Friday –

so stop back in a week to see why I still have a goofy smile on my face and some amazing memories treasured up in my heart…!

Cheers to sunshine and smiles!

We started and ended our cruise in Puerto Rico and so much fun !

From shore excursions to shows and shopping, dining to dressing up – every minute was amazing.

Our first shore excursion was the little island of St. Kitts.

We loved seeing the sights and meeting some of the people.

We enjoyed a little rainforest adventure…

And strolled through a historic artist’s village watching the batik artists at work.

The island the views were stunning!!

Bonaire was the island next port of call.

We joined a fun and informative island drive and city walking tour – we saw wild flamingos frolicking in their National Park

and spent some time at the Salt Flats learning all about harvesting sea salt.   (Which they’ve been doing since 1499!)

Here’s an amazing fact:   almost every citizen on all of the islands we visited speaks FOUR LANGUAGES!

We learned the word “Dushi” which is used to describe all the good things in life!

Back on the ship, we filled our days and nights with lots of family moments as well as so many fun activities – we saw some shows, swam a little bit, joined in some of the trivia games and even went to the “Abba Sing Along” lol!

Oh…and as you can imagine, we ATE.

A LOT!

Third port of call was Aruba

(is it just me or do you also hear the Beach Boys song “Kokomo” every time you hear the word ARUBA????)

We enjoyed a fun tour of the island that included a stop at one of the highest rated beaches IN THE WORLD, a lighthouse, a botanical garden and a SUBMARINE.

Well, to clarify it was a semi-submersible submarine – but a submarine none the less.

We visited a ship wreck from WWII and watched countless fish and sea turtles swim by – really amazing!

Our last stop was Curacao!

The highlight of the day for me was visiting a cave and seeing a colony of Long-Nosed Bats –

they are small and their long noses are specially designed to lap up nectar.

(No photography is allowed of the bats, so I borrowed a quick pic from their website….so no bats were harmed for this story!)

And everywhere you look was beautiful turquoise water!!!

Kite surfing, kite flying and kite go carting are a big thing!

The old town of Willemstead, Curacao – which dates to the 1400’s.

The town is so cute, colorful and well kept.

We enjoyed a walking tour through the historic town – which was also FILLED with street art!!

That mural was the length of the ENTIRE STREET!

Each of these were huge street art pieces of amazingness!

If you know me, I had to STOP quite a bit to take photos!

I swooned over one final, glorious sunrise, before it was time to fly home….but the memories we have treasured up and the photos I captured will last a lifetime!

Stop back next week and I’ll tell you about another important part of the cruise:  my son’s wedding!!!

What can I say:  I’m Feeling Blessed!

And do you know what else I’m blessed by?     Capturing amazing moments for you to treasure for a lifetime!
