Frivolous Friday: A Birthday & Playing Duck, Duck, Goose

Frivolous:  carefree and not serious, lighthearted, giddy.

Guess what I’ve been up to this week in between portrait sessions, weddings and retouching???

Yep, this happened #1:

Enjoyed an amazing walk around Miramar Lake earlier this week!   It was one of my friend’s birthdays so we decided to celebrate with a walk and a birthday picnic!

We love this place especially when our regular hiking trails are muddy – so you will find me here quite a bit in the winter!

Did you know Miramar Dam was built in 1960 and the water comes from both the Colorado River and the California Aqueduct…?

The reservoir has a water depth of 114 feet and the stunning path around it is 4.9 miles.

We always stop to watch the birds enjoying the lake – and every time I see them I can’t help thinking ‘Duck, Duck, GOOSE!’

And funny story about the Geese at Miramar Lake.

I was there photographing a family portrait session a couple years ago and the geese were strolling around the main walkway as they usually are….

We saw lots of people walking around them and the geese didn’t care, so the family and I started down the path too.

The geese didn’t even notice when me or the mom and kids walked down the sidewalk, but when the dad followed us – the geese started chasing him!

**And I’m talking – SERIOUSLY MAD GEESE – he had to literally RUN to get away from those nasty little beaks all ready to bite!

Thankfully he escaped and made it down the path when a passerby told us “Oh by the way, those geese hate men.”  (Um…yikes….)

So if you are a man,  you might not want to go play Duck, Duck, Goose at Miramar Lake!  😉

And after our walk I hosted a little early morning birthday party with Lemon Poppy seed muffins with a delicious lemon glaze along with fruit kabobs and hot coffee –

I hope it was the perfect way to celebrate a special day for a special friend!

What can I say:  I’m Feeling Blessed!
