Frivolous Friday! Giving life an extra squeeze….
It’s Frivolous Friday!
Thought I would share some of the fun I squeezed in this week (in between all my portrait sessions and retouching work.)
Yep, this happened #1:
The hubs and I have been trying to give life an extra squeeze lately by planning more adventures.
Our latest get away was to Palm Desert to visit my parents.
The snow covered mountains were dazzling!
We stopped on the way to the desert to stroll around the Cabazon Outlet Mall.
(Had fun browsing but didn’t buy anything except lunch!)
And FYI: Flash is a shopping DIVA! 😉
We also stopped to say “hey” to our favorite dinosaurs — who were all dressed up for Valentine’s Day!
My folk’s retirement community is nestled in Palm Desert and has views to die for!
The poodle and I had to stop our morning walk like twenty times to admire the view – which then always morphs into capturing a photo because you know me, right?
Can you imagine a more breathtaking backdrop for golf?
I actually crawled around on the street to capture this reflection in a puddle….just as the sun was about to rise!
(On the ground when it’s 38 degrees is dedication my friends….)
Slowed down as requested, and DID spot some ducks but not crossing the road….
Quack!
Also stopped to watch this Great Heron tip toe around the golf course pond looking for breakfast….
This guy was out hunting too…
The early bird didn’t catch the worm during my watch…..
and our last photo of our morning walk was created at this puddle…
(Here’s the ‘before’ shot – scroll to see what I created with it)
Here’s the photo I made with that little puddle!
Yep, this happened #2:
My parents always share the bounty of their citrus trees, so of course they loaded us up with citrus-y goodness to take home!
We are currently enjoying two kinds of oranges and some pink grapefruit alongside this sweet little bowl of sunny California lemons which is bringing some much needed fragrance and brightness to my life!
Normally, the first thing I want to do with extra lemons is make Lemon Bars or Lemon Drop Cookies,
but in the interest of saving calories, this time I used some of my lemons for dinner!
First up – ZESTING!
Then I whipped up Lemon Garlic Sheet Pan Chicken, Broccoli & Potatoes.
(The photo isn’t the best – it’s hard to photograph a piece of boneless/skinless chicken attractively, but here you go _
And if you’ve never made a sheet pan dinner (where the entire dinner is loaded onto a sheet pan and baked in the oven)
you are seriously missing out!
🙂
Yep, this happened #3:
Speaking of smiles….couldn’t resist adding one tiny extra element of lemony-colored sweetness…portraits!
Please let me know if you want to schedule a fun and fabulous and not sour but OH SO SWEET portrait session for yourself!
(And you don’t have to wear yellow!) 😉
