Frivolous Friday! A hike through time & Brunch!
It’s Frivolous Friday!
Thought I would share some of the fun I squeezed in this week (in between all my portrait sessions and retouching work.)
Yep, this happened #1:
Joined some fellow adventurers on a guided history hike this week!
The San Dieguito River Valley Conservancy sponsored a hike and private tour of the Sikes Adobe Homestead and I couldn’t resist – I’m a lifelong learner for sure.
We learned about the Mule Hill Stand off
(this hill is on the east side of the 15 at Lake Hodges – it’s a beautiful trail if you ever want to check it out.)
Here’s a photo from the late 1800’s showing the same Mule Hill and that little itty bitty town is Rancho Bernardo!
**For perspective, the photo was captured looking north. The guide is pointing to Mule Hill and the mall would roughly be located a couple inches below the “N” in the word ‘going.’
Isn’t that cool?
After we finished our hike we got a private tour of the Sikes Adobe Historic Farmstead.
It was built around 1870 and is one of the area’s oldest adobe homes from the American era.
Here’s then and now:
It was a wonderful tour – the house has been lovingly restored and beautifully displayed.
The children’s bedroom was filled with sweet little antiques!
Yep, this happened #2:
Well after all that hiking and history-learning we were STARVED! So we headed over to Breakfast Republic in Scripps Ranch – have you been there yet?
The food is super yummy and the decor is a HOOT!
I forgot to snap a pic of the building so I borrowed this one from their website –
Go check it out!
