Frivolous Friday! Autumn in Yosemite Wolf Pup RV adventure #10
It’s Frivolous Friday!
Thought I would share some of the fun I squeezed in this week (in between all my portrait sessions and retouching work.)
Yep, this happened #1:
There’s just something about Yosemite in the autumn – hubby and I can’t resist it! We’ve been many times but wanted to go again…
Usually we stay in the cabins at Curry Village but this year we scored premiere lodging in our little Wolf Pup RV!
We camped in Yosemite Valley next to Half Dome nestled in a grove of pine trees – it was perfection!
It was wonderful being in the heart of all the action and beauty – we had a little herd of deer that wandered through our campground every day!
And autumn was out and about!
But let me start at the beginning because a visit to Yosemite always starts off with the amazing Tunnel View!
Obviously we did A LOT of hiking – there were so many trails that started near our camp…
(This one was literally IN our campground!)
We love seeing the autumn color….
Trust me on this, you keep pinching yourself over how beautiful everything is!
Speaking of autumn leaves: when presented with the opportunity, I’ll never pass up the chance to walk in crunchy leaves….how about you?
Here’s something else we found amazing: A PHONE BOOTH- how long since you’ve seen one of those? LOL!
This was the view from the phone booth….not too shabby….
And speaking of interesting things, if you haven’t stayed in Curry Village or a campground at Yosemite before, you might not know that all your food, drinks and scented toiletries need to be locked in a bear locker.
Things aren’t safe in your car either because bears will rip open your car!
Thankfully the bears haven’t figured out how to open a trailer – so we didn’t have to move food from the RV – but did have to empty the truck (right down to our tin of altoids!)
We relaxed by the fire each evening (watching the bats flit around and the stars peeking out…)
Star light, star bright!
And then each morning, we popped out of bed to greet the morning (well, hubby might not have POPPED but you get the idea…)
Our most active day was over 20,000 steps! (And the poodle was with us for all of them – so what do we multiply that by for him? After all, his steps are tiny and he has four legs…..!)
The camping poodle is a trooper for sure!
And of course, every now and then I had to channel my inner Ansel Adams…
We spotted a coyote on two different days – here’s my favorite image – he gave me a spectacular pose AND let me video him jumping across the river!
HERE is a video of that if you want to peek!
We did more than just hike though – we took some time to explore the historic Ahwahnee Hotel *built in 1927 and considered to be the premiere lodge of all the National Parks!
We also strolled through Yosemite Village, the Cemetery and the Yosemite Museum!
All too soon our week was over and it was time to head home….
But you KNOW I had to stop a few more times on the way home to make a portrait!
Fun fact: this view of the valley with the river in the foreground was the first image Ansel Adams captured of Yosemite!
What can I say: I’m Feeling Blessed!
