Frivolous Friday! Capturing Smiles at Vacation Bible School

It’s Frivolous Friday!

Thought I would share some of the fun I squeezed in this week (in between all my portrait sessions and retouching work.)

Yep, this happened #1:

“Beep, beep, honk, honk!”
Let’s see, it’s about halfway through summer, so I must be headed to my church’s Vacation Bible School!

This year we had 200 Children and 110 Volunteers join us!

This year the theme was the MONUMENTAL love of God!  And our decorations team did an amazing job, don’t you think?

We are pretty sure the lessons learned in VBS help kids form a rock-solid faith for the road ahead…so we put A LOT of love, prep and prayer into this week!

And, as they grow, the lessons learned in VBS these lessons will help kids recognize clear evidence of God’s greatness in their life every day.

I was blessed by being able to volunteer!  (I’m going to guess I’ve been volunteering for maybe 18ish years? ) It’s always a pleasure to serve my church and my community in the best way I know how –
to capture the story of the day!

My photographs are shared with parents and volunteer teachers and will hopefully be enjoyed by the kids for years to come.

Our Vacation Bible School is divided up into stations that the small groups rotate through each day.

One station is storytelling…in this lesson the kids learned about Joseph’s Coat of Many Colors by crafting their own coat….  😉

And they learned about the Pharaoh’s dreams… (did you know the Pharaoh slept with a teddy bear?  Turns out he did!)  😉

We also enjoyed music, music, music…

And so much singing with joy….!

Of course you need games and outdoor fun added to the mix….

Science experiments….

And lots more fun at the Imagination Station….

Side note, some experiments were a little slimier than others…. 😉

We also made time for giving and service to others….
VBS kiddos brought donations each day to give to Homeless Outreach by Compton City Church and colored placemats to send to our prison ministry….

In addition to learning all about God’s amazing love, we made lots of new friends!

And did I mention that we add fun, silliness and giggles to the ENTIRE WEEK?

And tonight, after a whole week of fun, we will cap it all off with an evening concert and FREE carnival!

***I don’t have photos from tonight – obviously 😛  so I’ll share these carnival photos are from 7 years ago — I bet some of these wee ones are teachers this year!

And one more thing:

Let me mention that if you are looking for a church home I want to personally invite you to check us out!
