Frivolous Friday! Signs of Spring: Birds, Bees & Blossoms
It’s Frivolous Friday!
Thought I would share some of the fun I squeezed in this week (in between all my portrait sessions and retouching work.)
Yep, this happened #1:
Had a close encounter of the feathered kind this week and that got me thinking about how wonderful spring is – so this little blog of mine is dedicated to all things SPRING!
Did you notice her nest is made with little pieces of leaves, lichen and COBWEBS? Talk about soft and cushy…
And if the weather is nice, you can be sure I’m out on the trails!
I’m sure you already knew hiking is one of my hobbies (passions?)
– in addition to being wonderful exercise, I’m rewarded every step of the way with amazing things to look at…and photograph. 😉
This time of the year that means wildflowers – and ALERT – I found a teeny little patch of California Poppies! YAY!
And when I say teeny, I mean just a couple of plants….nothing like a few years ago *(HERE IF YOU MISSED THE SUPPER BLOOM)
And met a friend to the poppies as well….
The mountain lilac is particularly GORGEOUS this time of year!
And speaking of lilac – I just can’t resist showing you my beautiful lilac plant….
And unlike our native California Mountain Lilac – these blossoms smell amazing and scent the air in a 20 foot circle around the bush!
Well, back to hiking, as I mentioned the hills are alive with color if you look carefully enough!
And I met a new friend on the trail – this little poodle was wearing hiking boots just like me!
In case you are at all interested, here are my hiking essentials… I recommend you be this prepared too:
Two big bottles of ice water, my trusty sunhat, sunglasses and hiking boots, sunscreen, sanitizer, SNACKS,
an emergency blanket, pepper spray, snacks, pocket knife, and a sharpie.
Any guesses what the sharpie is for?
The sharpie is in case of Snake Bite! [So I am ready!]
Did you know you should have a sharpie to circle the location of your snake bite and write the time next to it then draw a circle around the border of the swelling and write down the time…?
• Update this info every 15 or 30 minutes as the swelling moves up the limb and your symptoms develop – this will help emergency personal better access your situation.
Yep. This happened #2
The third sign of spring is that I’m on a diet….of course I need to slim down for summer’s tank tops, shorts, dresses and bathing suits…!
So along those lines, I thought I’d share an amazing fast food restaurant in Poway.
It’s called Chamoy and it’s a “Tacqueria and Fruiteria” – and it’s DELISH!
(If you aren’t familiar with a Fruiteria, it means that in addition to all the regular Mexican food choices, they have an extensive menu of fruit based yumminess…)
Because of the whole spring diet THING, I decided to go with fruit for my lunch instead of the burrito that I really wanted…lol.
This is their “Bionico” which is cut up fresh fruit in a light crema with coconut, raisins and slivered almonds….
SO GOOD.
I’ve also tried their Mango con Coco (mango and coconut) it was delish too!
And so pretty to look at, don’t you think?
So you should try it and maybe I’ll see you there!
What can I say: I’m Feeling Blessed!
And do you know what else I’m blessed by? Capturing amazing moments for you to treasure for a lifetime!
