Frivolous Friday! Starry Skies at Lake Jennings Wolf Pup Camping Adventure #4
It’s Frivolous Friday!
Thought I would share some of the fun I squeezed in this week (in between all my portrait sessions and retouching work.)
Yep, this happened #1:
Enjoyed a weekend get away at Lake Jennings with our little trailer – and oh my goodness did we have a great time!
Our little Wolf Pup trailer got to relax in a primo spot on the top of the mountain overlooking the lake…
This was our amazing view:
And this was a pretty cute little view too….
Let me back up a bit and say that Lake Jennings is in Lakeside and is a manmade reservoir known for being one of the most scenic parks in all of San Diego County. It’s is an 85 acre lake just about guaranteeing some fun!
And to get to the campground, you literally drive across the top of the dam!
Here’s our cute little spot…
And what a view at night – because it’s tucked away to the east away from big city lights the stars were more visible…
The view was as breathtaking at night as it was during the day!
Flash and I like to be up with the sun – we grab coffee (well this half of we grabs coffee…Flash grabs a sip of water) and we head out for our walk.
We love this time when we have the whole campground and all the trails to ourselves!
(Side note there is nothing so amazing as a skinny morning shadow – so I’m going to collect them from each campout!)
We checked out the lake…
And especially checked out all the fun things to do in the campground –
they have a pretty extensive game area for campers to enjoy, as well as a Little Library, a playground, beautiful view points and if that’s not enough they have world class fishing and rent boats to enjoy!
And, THEY RENT TIPIS!!! There are five tipis for families to rent – just bring a sleeping bag and you are good to go- they have electricity, table, fire pit and a beautiful view of the lake.
Flash and I found a fun Lake Jennings Selfie Chair – which OF COURSE I was unable to resist (they even had a tripod ready to hold your phone! How handy is THAT?)
Yep. This happened #2
In addition to enjoying the views and relaxing, we ate. A lot. Seems like camping should be all about comfort food so I leave dieting at home. (I need to stop doing this but it’s hard! Anyone have advice for me on this?)
It’s going to be even harder because the hubs built me a custom slide out to house a brand new toaster oven… because when someone needs warm and gooey cookies, they need them!
And my little oven isn’t ONLY for cookies….I’ve also made lasagna, hot sourdough bread, blue berry muffins and a foil packet chicken dinner in this sweet little oven – so it will really come in handy!
Speaking of cooking – have you ever heard of Ziploc Bag Omelets?
Just toss all your ingredients into a ziploc freezer bag, smoosh it around to mix it all up, then seal and let the bag float around in boiling water for about 15 minutes – then magically, an omelet pops out!
This is an easy way for everyone to make their perfect breakfast (so it’s great for house guests – it’s not just for camping!)
Let me know if you have ideas for other quick, healthy and yummy camp foods!
What can I say: I’m Feeling Blessed!
