Frivolous Friday! A birthday tea party on the beach & guess who had a spa vacation?

It’s Frivolous Friday!

Thought I would share some of the fun I squeezed in this week (in between all my portrait sessions and retouching work.)

Yep, this happened #1:

Spent some time baking this week -don’t my little pretties look delish?

In honor of my birthday friend’s special diet restrictions, I wanted to make a gluten free treat for her birthday tea party and French Macarons came to mind…

My macarons were part of a simple little Birthday Tea Party on the beach (on the beach cuz celebrations need to be creative in the age of Covid….lol!)

We took a walk and had a picnic!

And while we were picnicking we enjoyed all the beauty the beach has to offer – from soaring pelicans,,,

To sand pipers scurrying about….

The views were wonderful and we made lots of new friends!  😉

Yep. we kicked up our tail feathers at our party…. [ha ha….oh I just crack myself up!]

Yep, this happened #2:

Let me back up a bit to the day BEFORE our party….

I’ve secretly always wanted to try my hand at making macarons – and I know from watching my Food Network shows that they are tricky and time consuming but I decided to give it a whirl.

This was a good week for me to spend some time baking (keep reading to find out why I had extra time this week!)

The recipe I used for my French Macarons is HERE  if you want to give them a try.

After whipping up the flavored meringue, you pipe the batter onto the cookie sheet and let them rest….

Then bake and cool….

Then fill them with a heavenly buttercream frosting….

I made sure to fill with lots of buttercream….!

Then, taDAAAA they are ready to eat!   They were time consuming but delicious – I will definitely make them again!

Yep, this happened #3:

Well, in case you were still wondering who had a spa vacation – it was my camera gear!
Yep. I sent my cameras on vacation without me.
Each January I block off an entire week from photographing weddings and portrait sessions to send all my professional equipment to the Canon Professional Service Center to be cleaned,
maintained and pampered so I know they are ready my hectic schedule ahead!
I do this because I LOVE MY CLIENTS and always want 100% perfection for them – from me and from my gear.
I have a ton of professional grade lenses and flashes as well as FIVE cameras and I need everything to be in tip-top shape!
I’m happy to report that everything got a clean bill of health and all my lenses and sensors are squeaky clean and ready to roll.
So after a quick little sweep from me….hee hee…me and my gear are ready to jump into whatever 2022 has to offer!
