Frivolous Friday! FUN, Selfies and Silliness in Del Mar!

It’s Frivolous Friday!

Thought I would share some of the fun I squeezed in this week (in between all my portrait sessions and retouching work.)

Yep, this happened #1:

Got a tip from a pal that I needed to get myself over to the Flower Hill Promenade in Del Mar because it was screaming for one of my Frivolous Friday posts (thank you Shirley!)

She sent me a few pics and I was so excited I almost jumped in the car that minute!

First of all, so you know where I am:  it’s the little outdoor mall that’s right across the freeway from the Del Mar Fairgrounds  (you look at it when you wait at the end of the northbound off ramp to go to the fair.)

The mall is super cute because every little open space of the entire mall is filled with art and color!

From peacocks painted on the wall to ladybugs on the staircases and sea turtles on the elevator and every spot in between!

Each of these is a full wall-sized mural (I didn’t think you need me to pose in every scene….much as I wanted to!)

But a few I absolutely couldn’t resist….!

There are definitely GOOD VIBES ONLY here!

**And don’t you think I need to send Matt a copy of that California art piece….just so he remembers there’s LOVE waiting in San Diego???

It’s such an upbeat and beautiful place to stroll around.

(And funny, there ARE shops, but we didn’t even go in any – just enjoyed the art!  Oopsies…maybe next time I’ll shop!)

Even the FLOOR is decorated!

This heart was one of my favorite art installations – maybe because it seems doable?  Like I could make this for my patio or something?  And you know how much I love, LOVE!

Yep, this happened #2:

We decided to grab a bite to eat because all that art made us hungry…!  So we paused to rest our selfie arm and grab some refreshment at Flower Child Cafe.

Which is advertised as a “Colorful café with a cheery, bohemian ethos for health-minded salads, bowls & wraps.”

I had the Rebel Wrap (grilled steak, charred onion, port salut cheese, arugula, horseradish yogurt)

and Rose Petal Lemonade — both were amazing!

So delish – I recommend you give it a try too!

Yep, this happened #3:

We had just enough energy after lunch to stroll over to the lagoon (you don’t even need to move your car – just walk across the street and you are on the trail.)

The trail meanders under the 5 freeway (unique!) and all the way to the ocean….it’s a fun little stroll!
