Frivolous Friday: Signs of Spring, My Birthday & The Carlsbad Flower Fields
It’s Frivolous Friday!
Thought I would share some of the fun I squeezed in this week (in between all my portrait sessions and retouching work.)
Yep, this happened #1:
The birds are chirping, the flowers are blooming and any gloom from winter is becoming a distant memory…..kinda 😉
Spring is everywhere!
I saw my first monarch of the year this week…
The Western Blue Birds are back in my yard also signaling spring – they just arrived from their winter vacation in Mexico (at least someone is travelling these days…lol)
Yep. This happened #2
I also know Spring has arrived because my birthday was the First Day of Spring and I had so many wonderful wishes from friends and family!
The day started with a fabulous hubby surprise: a whole lotta decorations and festive gifts – I’m not kidding you one bit when I tell you that I actually burst into tears when I strolled into my kitchen at 5:30 on my birthday morning and saw all the surprises.
. Not. Kidding. You. One. Bit. I CRIED for crying out loud! But how sweet was he?
I also enjoyed a great birthday hike, a birthday zoom party with Matt, a picnic lunch in the park (courtesy of Cheesecake Factory and also included a 1570 calorie slice of Peanut Butter Chocolate Cheesecake EEK!
It was a wonderful day and I felt so blessed and happy!
Yep. This happened #3
One thing my pal and I always do every spring is grab our cameras and visit the Carlsbad Flower Fields.
In the interest of social distancing and avoiding the crowds, instead of going inside the Fields this year, we just walked around the outside sidewalk.
The public sidewalk circles the entire Flower Field property — of course you don’t get to enjoy the flowers as much as if you go inside…. but this year that felt like enough.
Don’t you just love the colors? A beautiful rainbow of ranunculus!
And they have a beautiful garden outside in the parking lot, so we enjoyed a few flowers up close and personal… 😉
We also stopped in at Armstrong Growers right next to the flower fields and bought a few plants for our own gardens!
And because all that exercise made us hungry, we walked over to the Windmill Food Hall and grabbed a to go order
(I’m not ready for in-person dining, but a take-away picnic was fun!)
If you haven’t been, put a visit on your to do list – the Windmill Food Hall’s decor is fun and the food is delish.
This time I had the Chicken Pad Thai and it was yummy!
What can I say: I’m Feeling Blessed!
And do you know what else I’m blessed by? Capturing amazing moments for you to treasure for a lifetime!
