Frivolous Friday! Plant Dreams – Pull Weeds – Grow a Happy Life and then, Eat Dessert

It’s Frivolous Friday!

Thought I would share some of the fun I squeezed in this week (in between all my portrait sessions and retouching work.)

Yep, this happened #1:

Just call me Farmer Pam.

Hubby built me the most beautiful raised vegetable garden!

Side note: We’ve always grown a few tomatoes and an herb or two, but this is our first dedicated and OFFICIAL Vegetable Garden!

And so far (one week in) I’m loving it and feeling pretty proud….

It started with a game plan followed by a trip (or 3…lol) to Home Depot…. and so much heavy lifting I don’t even want to tell you about it.

And in case you didn’t already guess, my vegetable garden had to be BEAUTIFUL as well as useful….sorry not sorry….that’s just how I roll!

So we primed and painted the sides of the raised garden the color of our backyard fence AND added a red hot and fun fence to screen out the poodles.

I had the idea to incorporate my very first outdoor ART INSTALLATION into my beautiful new garden.

**Just wanted to make sure my garden is extra beautiful and inspiring….I plan to look at it and work hard in it for years and years to come

so I created something special and colorful.

I’ve been doing a ton of research on what to plant, when to plant and how to plant

(like did you know you should bury your tomato plants extra deep?  YEP!)

I made my plans and am keeping records in a fun little Gardening Journal.

(I found the cutest little free Gardening Journal pages to print -because it HAS to be pretty, right?)

Here’s  the link so you can download the garden journal pages too.

So I made my plan, bought some seeds and some plants and got dirty!

I planted four varieties of tomatoes

A bunch of Strawberries…[And here’s another tip for you, make sure your strawberries say Everbearing – so they give fruit throughout the year – otherwise it will just be one harvest.]

I planted two kinds of sweet peppers, two kinds of squash along and some cucumbers.

I’m growing lettuce, carrots and borage from seed – so stay tuned for those.

Me and the poodles are ready for a fun year of gardening and harvesting (I will share my carrots with the poodles – they love them!)

Yep, this happened #2:

I ventured out to visit the brand new Nothing Bundt Cake store in Carmel Mountain Ranch (it’s right next to Sprouts; so after your healthy grocery shopping you can head next door to reward yourself with cake!)

If you’ve never tasted one of their Bundt Cakes or Bundtlets – get over there right now.  Not kidding you: NOW!    They have a bunch of flavors and their cream cheese frosting is TO DIE FOR.

And their shop is so cute!

All their flavors sounded delish, HERE is their website but I settled on Chocolate Chocolate Chip.

And not only was it beautiful, it was DELISH!

What can I say:  I’m Feeling Blessed!

And do you know what else I’m blessed by?     Capturing amazing moments for you to treasure for a lifetime!
