Frivolous Friday! Tiny Bit of Adventure, a Cute Snake and Mardi Gras!

It’s Frivolous Friday!

Thought I would share some of the fun I squeezed in this week (in between all my portrait sessions and retouching work.)

Yep, this happened #1:

Made some new friends this week!   Meet Daisy, my new bestie… 😉

She’s all about living a natural, organic, simple life, vegetarian, health food fanatic, no stress…you know, everything I strive to be but fail at.  😉

And side note, I did suggest she finish chewing before our photo session but she didn’t care…. 😉

My hiking pal and I ventured out from lockdown for a socially distanced hike at the Ramona Grasslands Preserve this week – if you’ve never been on that trail, you definitely need to go!

What’s especially cool about this hike is that the entire trail is INSIDE a cow pasture.   You literally need to unlock the gate to reach the trail.

So you hike all around the cows….making new friends with every step!

Question:  Should I have told her she had lettuce in her teeth?  Awkward…..

This beautiful preserve has some gorgeous (and easy) trails that take you over lovely hills and meadows, through some oak forests and along a little creek –

All along the way, if you are paying attention, you get to see lots of wildlife – like red tailed hawks….

Don’t you think this is a super cool tree too?

We watched a Roadrunner stalking a lizard…. meep, meep!

Spotted a beautiful Egret in the watering hole…

(He wasn’t as brave as the cow  – we spooked him…oopsies)

Spotted this little familiar creature enjoying the preserve….

And this woodpecker was yards and yards away from us but since I had my zoom lens, I was able to capture him hopping around his tree

Then I heard the squirrels alert call (HERE if you want to hear that)

and I noticed he was standing up looking to the west….so I spun my lens to the west too and guess what I saw?

Mr.Coyote had strolled on the scene….isn’t he/she beautiful?

Just trying to find a bite of lunch I think….

But the squirrels were on to him and were definitely not going to be eaten!

Such a wonderful hike – I can’t recommend it enough!

Yep.  This happened #2

Dusted off my craft supplies and painted some rocks this week!

My neighborhood has a new rock snake – and a cute little sign asking to help make the snake grow with more rocks

so I couldn’t resist getting in on the fun.

I added three rocks — any guesses which ones were mine?  Here’s a clue as to one of them…..

If you want to add a rock, PM or email me and I’ll tell you where it is – I hope Mr. Slither really GROWS!

Yep.  This happened #3

Celebrated Mardi Gras in a teeny tiny little way.  (I’m always up for spicing up my life by celebrating holidays~!)

I made Southern Shrimp and Grits for dinner and decorated the table with all the fun beads I could find.  (Luckily I had a bun from my photo booth stash!)

And if you didn’t know, Mardi Gras is French for “Fat Tuesday”, reflecting the practice of the last night of eating rich, fatty foods before the ritual Lenten sacrifices and fasting of the Lenten season.

And of course the next day we celebrated Ash Wednesday with a virtual church service (Link in comments if you want to join the worship too!)
