Frivolous Friday: A snowy getaway
It’s Frivolous Friday!
Thought I would share some of the fun I squeezed in this week (in between all my portrait sessions and retouching work.)
Yep, this happened:
The hubs and I celebrated New Year’s Eve the same way we celebrated Christmas, alone, locked down and quietly.
We did change our location though- we locked down at our inlaw’s family cabin in Lake Arrowhead.
So we rang in the new year in the snow!
A LOT OF SNOW!
Which means of course I had to build a snowman!
Side Note: My snowman’s beautiful red smile was created with a Twizzler – which Santa gave me in my stocking and is my fav!!
Are you a twizzler or a red vine person? I don’t think you can be both…you couldn’t pay me to eat a red vine…uggg
Both mornings I enjoyed a stunning and chilly sunrise while I was out walking.
I’ve been walking 5 miles each morning since the pandemic started and I’m not about to let some snow and 17 degree temps stop my exercise streak!
Don’t you think icicles are extra glorious in the beautiful light of sunrise?
Snow, in fact, makes EVERYTHING extra beautiful!
We had a “wildlife encounter” during our visit too – and take a guess what the poodles think of squirrels….
The poodles were OUTRAGED at the intrusion….
And snow angel is ALWAYS on my to do list for the snow….

So many beautiful little moments that I tried to soak in and enjoy – especially because my one word theme for the year (sorta my resolution but better) is SAVOR.
So I was savoring everything I could — like this perfect miniature Christmas Tree growing in the shadow of her big brother!
And I’ll let you guess where this snowball ended up as soon as the photo was done… 😛
All too soon it was time to head home, and we had to stop on the way down the mountain
because it looked like we were above the crowds!
Speaking of the way home,

And glory be, we stopped for an In-N-Out burger on the way home!!!
(our first since the pandemic started and it was sooooo good!)
Where has fast food been in my life since March??? Shamefully this tasted like elixir of the Gods! 😉
What can I say: I’m Feeling Blessed!
And do you know what else I’m blessed by? Capturing amazing moments for you to treasure for a lifetime!
