Frivolous Friday: The Year No One Came To My Christmas Cookie Party, a Christmas Tree Adventure and a Festive Drive

It’s Frivolous Friday!

Thought I would share some of the fun I squeezed in this week (in between all my portrait sessions and retouching work.)

Yep, this happened #1:

This week was all about treats!  Yum!

From peanut butter fudge to cookies, popcorn and hot chocolate – it was a sweet week!

Of course my extended family will be celebrating the holidays in our own homes this year so we missed our annual Christmas Cookie Baking Party at mom’s house….boo hoo.

but I’m determined to keep a smile plastered on my face and carry on…

So I pared it down to just a few kinds of cookies (mostly because there’s no one else to help me eat them – hubby isn’t a big fan of cookies – so it’s DANGEROUS to have them in the house!)

Of course I needed to make some sugar cookies with lots of colorful decorations….

And who doesn’t like a chocolate cookie?  Especially one with white chocolate frosting and a Reeses cup!

I also made some Peppermint Candy Pretzels (a very simple recipe:  Pretzel + Hershey kiss + 6 minutes in the oven = Amazing Treat!)

You can use any flavor Hershey Kiss, but you KNOW I’m all about peppermint this year!

(And if you didn’t know that,  HERE IS THE SCOOP on all things Pam & Pepperminty!)

And once you have all those Oh So Yummy treats, what should you do with them? Set up a cozy situation of course

How cute is this?

*Public service announcement:   Remove snowman from cup before your first sip or you’ll get a pretzel up your nose and then a tsunami of hot chocolate over the side of the cup.  #truth

Yep.  This happened #2

The hubs and I took a walk at the Christmas Tree Farm.   We were picking up a little tree for his office, and what do you know,

I happened to bring along my cell phone tripod and some cute winter scarves…just in case a photo opportunity presented itself. And it did.

(insert eye roll by hubby here)

Snow was added with photoshop.   Cuz you KNOW I would be wearing my parka if it were really snowing….EEK!

What kind of tree do you have this year? Are you a fresh or artificial?

Yep, this happened #3:

One of our family traditions is to drive around looking at Christmas lights at least once – and even though it’s just hubby and I this year, we kept up the tradition.

I found a map with lots of recommendations so we visited a new neighborhood in Scripps Ranch and were mind blown!

(Let me know if you want a link to the map of San Diego Christmas Lights)

It was fabulous!

The lights were SO fabulous, in fact, I had to make a little video show for you!
