Frivolous Friday: Pepperminty Holiday-ing at Home

It’s Frivolous Friday!

Thought I would share some of the fun I squeezed in this week (in between all my portrait sessions and retouching work.)

Yep, this happened #1:

Have you noticed that lots of people are putting up their holiday decorations early this year?

I think we are all looking for some JOY and the Christmas season is a great way to boost our happiness!

You KNOW I’m always on the search for more happiness so my decorations are UP.

And this year, my theme is all things Peppermint!

My Christmas Tree is oh so pepperminty…

To decorate I used a lot of things from past years, I made a few of the ornaments and bought a few things….like 24″ lollipops!

For the past ten years or so, I’ve been changing my Christmas Tree theme every three years or so – on a low cost level for sure,

but just mixing it up so I have something to think about during the year to spice up each holiday.

I’ve had Silver and Gold, Penguins and Purple — but this year it’s all about PEPPERMINT!

Some of the decorations I bought on 90% off clearance in February – so it’s good to choose a theme early…score!  😉

Made these little wrapped peppermints as a covid lockdown project last spring….yay for craftiness!

The pepperminty-ness extends to my gift wrap and ribbon too….because in my world gift wrap must coordinate with the tree.

And to my dining room table centerpiece….a five foot long winter wonderland table-scape with hints of peppermint!

This little ceramic gingerbread house was a wedding gift about a million years ago!

Did I tell you the hubs and I did a re-build of our mantle and freshened the decor of the family room?

Well we did and we are loving it!   #CovidProject Thanks to Dana of  Dana King Design. for the inspiration, design plans and advice.

(She’s my long distance designer – we do everything via email and chat – how fun is that?)

BTW:  And YES, that’s a tin of snowballs in front of the fire, all ready for a snowball fight!  Woot!

This year the snowball fight will just be me and the hubs because Matt isn’t coming home (waaa!) and obviously no one is visiting…but we’ll do our best to have at least one snowball fight!

And yep.  I’m feeling the LOVE and really enjoying my decorations!

Yep, this happened #2:

And speaking of a happiness boost, this beautiful hand painted rock magically appeared in my garden yesterday.

It was an unexpected surprise that made me smile the whole rest of the day!

I’m pretty sure it was a secret gift by my super talented and crafty friend Betsy (so thank you!!)

Betsy isn’t the only one doing something crafty, I actually dusted off the ole glue gun to create this amazing little snippet of Christmas fun.

As you can see I’m definitely feeling Peppermint-y this year!

A couple notes if you decide to make this project – paint your letter white or red beforehand because the background will show.

I started the project with tacky glue but it made the red food dye on the candy leak to the background so I switched to hot glue gun.

And originally, I was going to put a red hot between each peppermint, but the spaces weren’t uniform so I skipped the red hots.

I will eat them instead!

Whew!

Yep, this happened #3:

I’m not only obsessed with how peppermints LOOK, I’m also seriously addicted to the taste,

so I need to give a shout out to my three favorite treats this month:

Flipz Candy Cane Pretzels (perfect blend of sweet, salty and minty,)

Hershey Peppermint Kisses (only 20 calories and they are to die for – I’ll need to buy ten more bags to last me all year long!)

and Celestial Seasonings Candy Cane Lane tea…I actually always do buy a lot of this to drink it all year long.

Fun fact – the hubs doesn’t really care for peppermint – so it’s ALL MINE!

What else can you recommend?  I. NEED. PEPPERMINT !

What can I say:  I’m Feeling Blessed!
