Frivolous Friday: Walking Across Route 66 and Cupcakes!
It’s Frivolous Friday!
Thought I would share some of the fun I squeezed in this week (in between all my portrait sessions and retouching work.)
Yep, this happened #1:
Did I tell you I’m walking across the USA on Route 66?
Yep. Started in July…I think it will take me a year. :-O
Did that sound odd at all? Well let me ‘fess up right now – I’m walking Route 66 VIRTUALLY!
And this photo was from two years ago when the hubs and I really WERE on Route 66 on our way to the Grand Canyon.
Here’s the scoop on how I’m walking Route 66 virtually:
I found a really cool app called “My Virtual Mission” that monitors your physical activity via your phone or Apple watch (you can run, ride, walk, swim, workout or even hopscotch!) and the app applies your activity to whatever trek you’ve signed up for.
Right now, I’m headed down Route 66.
And in case you didn’t know Route 66 is 2280.3 miles long from Chicago to Los Angeles!
I started walking 50 days ago from Chicago – right now I’m in Missouri and I’ve walked 355 miles – I’m 15% of the way across Route 66!
The app gives you a little control panel with maps of your progress and even a live street view of your walk… and I also get postcards emailed to me when I reach a milestone.
That was my virtual walk. Here’s what my real walk looks like.
5-7 miles a day, seven days a week in my lil ole neighborhood talking on the phone with my hiking pal….
I pretty much walk the exact same route every single morning
I wave at the same people and pass the same places and that’s just fine it’s become almost meditative to me.
but sometimes my walk is Extra Fabulous and PURPLE…
Even if you weren’t Passionate for Purple like me (read about that HERE if you missed it)
you just have to LOVE the Jacaranda Trees when they are blooming….am I right?
And sometimes I make a new friend on my walks….
Side note: Snail Surfing is really fun!
Yep. This happened #2
Enjoyed a little treat this week.
And since I’m burning all those extra calories from my walk across the USA, I didn’t feel too guilty tucking in to some amazing cupcakes from Cute Cakes.
Our flavors were: S’mores, Mint Chocolate Chip, Chunky Monkey, Orange Creamsicle, Berry Blueberry & Moose Tracks.
Which flavor would you eat first?
I saved this Berry Blueberry cupcake for you!
(Kidding – I ate this one too. Sorry – but it was so yummy I couldn’t resist!)
What can I say: I’m Feeling Blessed!
And do you know what else I’m blessed by? Capturing amazing moments for you to treasure for a lifetime!
sessions are an hour long with unlimited poses, unlimited outfits, unlimited fun!
