Frivolous Friday: Hot and Thirsty
It’s Frivolous Friday!
Thought I would share some of the fun I squeezed in this week (in between all my portrait sessions and retouching work.)
Yep, this happened #1:
Shot someone this week.
Of course with a Squirt Gun and of course it was my hubby!
Shhhhh…….cue me tip toeing around with a camera in one hand and a squirt gun in the other…hee hee….but he did get me back…all is fair in love and war, right? 😉
Decided to make KEEPING COOL my week’s focus.
Since it was OH. SO. HOT. this week I decided to make KEEPING COOL my week’s focus.
(And newsflash: it’s hard to think of Frivolous Friday fun when there’s a pandemic going on….just sayin’)
And wouldn’t you know right after I decided to focus on keeping cool I heard the SNOW CONE truck driving down my street?
Talk about perfect timing!
I waved him down and he pulled right up to my house…talk about my kind of personal attention!
I slurped up a big ole watermelon Kona Ice and that made my day perfect!
(Side note: What’s your favorite snow cone flavor?)
Well that gave me the idea to surprise myself with a unique summer treat each day of the week so here goes:
First up: Boba Tea!
First of all did you know that Boba is easy to buy and prepare yourself?
Yep. I happened upon a video on Instagram talking about it and I was surprised it was easy to make so I had to give it a try!
Mr. Amazon helped me find some Lychee Flavor Boba – and after 5 minutes of boiling….
My Boba Berry Tea was ready! And except for the fact that I didn’t have a straw big enough for the Boba Pearls, it was just like the store.
(Ate them with a spoon – so no worries about not having a straw – I’m a problem solver you know!) 😉
My next hot summer day treat was watermelon! I can eat watermelon 24 hours a day 7 days a week
(and sometimes do…lol) but this week, I treated myself to a YELLOW watermelon.
And this was delicious but it was the same problem as my purple bread from last week (HERE if you missed that)
My brain kept wanting it to taste lemony or pineapple-y!
Well that special watermelon got me thinking about that time I gave the Watermelon Challenge a whirl.
(Aren’t I Oh. So. Fashionable? I’m clearly ready for Project Runway!
Ever heard of a green monster?
I stumbled on this rather famous Green Smoothie recipe and couldn’t resist giving it a try – it features spinach, banana and yogurt – it was really good and I would recommend it.
Let me know if you want the recipe!
Homemade lemonade was next up on my keep it cool plan….and I found the perfect recipe for just ONE glass!
And whip up a tall glass of lemonade!
Lemonade for One
3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice (about one lemon)
2 tablespoons sugar
¾-cup cold water
Combine the lemon juice and sugar in a tall glass; stir until the sugar dissolves. Stir in the water. Add ice. Start smiling.
And you CAN. NOT. forget a Root Beer Float when you are thinking about the perfect way to cool off.
By the way: How do you make an elephant float?
One elephant, two scoops of ice cream and a lot of root beer!
What can I say: I’m Feeling Blessed!
And do you know what else I’m blessed by? Capturing amazing moments for you to treasure for a lifetime!
