Frivolous Friday: Summer is calling: how will we answer?

It’s Frivolous Friday!

Thought I would share some of the fun I squeezed in this week (in between all my portrait sessions and retouching work.)

Yep, this happened:

Usually by late June my summer calendar is filled with lots of fun.

Normally I would have a big vacation on the calendar as well as a few weekend get-aways, some dinner parties, family get togethers, some Girls Adventures, Vacation Bible School, etc, etc, etc.

Well, this year, not so much.

I started to feel bummed-out about this until I decided I just need to change my thinking and fill my calendar with covid-free fun instead.

I found this little graphic that focuses on ‘safer’ experiences and thought it has some great potential to help make my summer more fun:

Help me out – what other kinds of Summer Fun can you think of?

There definitely needs to be a walk and a sunset picnic on the beach….

Some playing in the ocean….

Some reading in my backyard….

I won’t have my season tickets to Moonlight Theatre this summer – so I’ll trade that for some backyard movie nights!

(Specifically, on July 3rd I’m FOR SURE going to be watching Hamilton!    Anyone else?)

I will do some hiking….not as much as other summers but I will hit the trails for sure!

I think I will do at least one morning walk at the zoo this summer.

What do you think?  Safe?

Hubby and I will enjoy lots of evenings in our backyard with the Fire Pit that he designed and built….

BUT even better than that, the hubs and I are going to CAMP in a tent in our BACKYARD at least one weekend this summer.

We are going to challenge ourselves to not use electricity or anything inside the house for 48 hours (except for one teeny room in our house…if you get my drift…lol)

What do you think of that?  It will be like regular camping except no Covid,  no Bears and getting reservations will be easier….

Stay tuned for that…marshmallows anyone?

I’m also going to be doing a little more gardening than usual this year, partly because I planted some vegetables and

partly because I’m spending more time in my own backyard so I want it to look great!

I’m going to make a few summery recipes too – like pizza on the grill, homemade ice cream and some fun and fresh salads…do you have any yummy recipes I should try?

What ideas do you have to add to my Summer To do list?  I want us all to have a fun and Safe summer in America’s Finest City!
