Frivolous Friday: Feeling Extra Thankful for Food and Getting an A+ Grade!!
Yep, this happened:
Is it just me or are you feeling extra thankful for food too?
We have really been keeping to staying home and literally have not driven our car in six weeks! (Yep – not kidding you!)
I did a huge Costco shopping trip the end of March (and I do mean HUGE) and it’s still going strong! I am taking advantage of a few things to keep us going though.
First is “Farm to You” a farmer co-op delivers an absolutely beautiful box of produce to our porch every two weeks.
Isn’t this the most beautiful thing you’ve ever seen? ESPECIALLY during a home lockdown?
(What I love about this Farm program is you get to choose what they deliver – which is especially good because my hubby isn’t much for random vegetables – no way are beets making it into his tummy…!)
We love everything – so fresh and beautiful.
So beautiful that I’ve been using some of our produce for my homework assignments in my Food Photography class and guess what?
I GOT AN A+ for my grade!
I’m thankful for these farm fresh tomatoes that I didn’t have to leave home for: perfectly ripe and so sweet and tomato-ey
I have a coupon code if you want to try “Farm Fresh to You” you’ll save $15 on your first order
CODE:PAMD4176
The tomatoes were so perfect we didn’t even need fresh mozzarella for our Caprese Salad. (Which was good because I didn’t have any fresh mozzarella….lol)
The blueberries were so plump and juicy!
(To photograph this, I made a custom black faux slate backboard – added custom lighting and a spritz of morning dew! What do you think?)
Believe me, we treasured each and every beautiful berry as we popped them in our mouth over the next few days…..
And isn’t my little tin bucket just adorable? I happened to have it in my stash of vases…
That tin helped me get an A+ on my Food Photography assignment! Woot!
We had a beautiful basket of strawberries too…so I had to whip out my camera….
After photographing them in their basket, I decided to add to the fun by whipping up a little treat for the hubs….
The other delivery service I tried was ASAP Produce – for delivery of meat, bread, eggs, milk, etc.
You just visit their WEBSITE, click what you want and your groceries show up on your porch. (Even same day!)
One of the things I ordered was a simple pack of tortillas…
I thought the SIZE of my flour tortillas was so hysterical I had to drag myself, my husband, my camera and my super gigantic tortillas out to the street….
I guess these days it doesn’t take much to make me smile or do weird things because my ‘weird thing quotient’ is a little bit low….!
Here’s a massive burrito created with HALF a tortilla. Lol. I may need to get creative to use this whole pack of tortillas before the expiration date.
And speaking of expiration dates, tell me if it’s just me, but during these past couple of months, I’ve found myself treating each piece of food with a lot more care than during ‘my old life.’
I’ve never been a food waster, but I will say that six months ago, a cucumber might have taken it’s last breath in the back of my crisper drawer unnoticed – but these days every single item is more precious
so I’ve found myself whipping up meals and snacks just to use an ingredient that needs to be eaten.
Like I’m a pioneer woman in the days of Little House on the Prairie or something.
And I’m thinking things like “Pa, when are we going in to town?” hee hee
And lastly, I’m JUMPING FOR JOY because I’m allowed to re-open!!! 😃 WOOT!
I’m now scheduling Fun and Fabulous Outdoor Portrait Sessions for this month through October!
So Grab your spot!
*** Of course I’ll be wearing a face mask the whole time
and us keeping social distance will be NO PROBLEM because I have professional, high quality cameras and lenses…
a bit of distance will still create perfectly crisp and beautiful photos.
I’ll give professional posing advice from a distance too – so no worries about that!
I greatly appreciate your patience the past few weeks and would be so thankful for your support of me and my teeny little small business!!!
“As you read my stories of long ago I hope you will remember that things truly worthwhile and that will give you happiness are the same now as they were then.
It is not the things you have that make you happy. It is love and kindness and helping each other and just plain being good. ”
Laura Ingalls Wilder
