Frivolous Friday: Valentine Sweets, Rock Painting and a Romantic Sunset

It’s Frivolous Friday!

Thought I would share some of the fun I squeezed in this week (in between all my portrait sessions and retouching work.)

Yep, this happened #1:

Happy Valentine’s Day!!!  How are you celebrating?

We keep it simple:   we don’t exchange gifts or go out to dinner because it’s so crowded.

I usually make a special dinner (tonight it will be lobster from Costco!)    And I like to do a little something special for dessert!

This year I made two different things….because why not?

First up – cupcakes!  This is a wonderful recipe that makes just five cupcakes!  How perfect is that?

(The last thing I need in my life is 36 cupcakes calling me from across the house…I can’t explain how it works but desserts in my house SCREAM for me to come eat them 24 hours a day!)

HERE‘s the recipe if you are interested in giving a baby batch of cupcakes a try…..

And I couldn’t resist making some Chocolate Covered Strawberries too.

I actually made them yesterday and we’ve already eaten A LOT of them.  Yikes.  And Yum.

I just melt Nestle chocolate chips in the microwave and DIP.  We like them chilled.

They are so easy to make it’s not even funny.

And GOOD NEWS:  since they are strawberries they don’t count against your diet — they are FRUIT!   SCORE!

Did a little Valentine Craft project with my friends.

It’s called Mandala rock painting – and in simple terms it’s dots on a rock….lol.

It’s a “sit down and finish in one session” kind of craft – and they are cute on your desk or in the garden!

It’s harder than you think to make the dots even and beautiful but we did our best and had fun!

If you want to try it, you just need a rock, a stylus or pencil and a teeny bit of acrylic paint.  (I’ll put a link in comments with a tutorial if you are interested.)

Yep, this happened #3:

Here’s a teeny little love story for you.

My hubby and I were out and about finishing some errands last week and since it looked like it was going to be a beautiful sunset, I asked him if we could swoop over to the coast so we could see it in all its glory.

He said yes!

We enjoyed the view and he didn’t mind one bit when I stopped to get my cellphone to capture the beautiful scene.

**I’m mentioning this on Valentine’s day because it’s one of the many things I love about my sweetie.

He ‘gets me’ and knows that sometimes when I see something beautiful I need to soak it in and then capture it….or I just might DIE (kidding and also not kidding)

AND best of all, he never minds waiting for me to do that.

Whether we are on vacation or just running an errand he is patient while I snap!  😉

(You would be amazed if you knew how many times we’re out driving and I say “look how beautiful that is” and he says “want me to pull over?”)

I just love that man…and I thank God for him every day….and I will keep him!

I’m looking forward to spending all of our sunsets together.

I wish you a lifetime of beautiful sunsets with your sweetie too — Happy Valentine’s Day!
