Frivolous Friday: Racoons, Snow & a Game Filled with Laughter

It’s Frivolous Friday!

Thought I would share some of the fun I squeezed in this week (in between all my portrait sessions and retouching work.)

Yep, this happened #1:

Had an animal encounter of the most adorable kind!

Backstory:  We arrived at our family’s cabin in Lake Arrowhead to discover that a group of four racoons were napping in the sun on the back patio.

And they didn’t want to move…

….and they didn’t care that we were there!

(This was a yawn not a growl….but those TEETH!!! Right?)

After  a couple of hours of watching them we decided we had to shoo them away so we could enjoy the patio…and they weren’t happy about having to leave!

But they did finally head on home (at least for a few hours – they came back again that night!)

Here’s your fun fact for the day:

A group of raccoons is called a gaze.

We believe this is a family (raccoons will remain with the family group for a year before venturing off to look for a mate.)

**I also captured video of the racoons – if you are interested in seeing that, the link is in comments

Here’s a sweet little compilation of all the Racoon video clips (some day and some from the night visit)

But racoon photographing wasn’t the only thing we did while we were there – we also did some hiking, played in the snow, built a snowman and had a snowball fight!

Although it didn’t actually snow, there was plenty of snow to play in, and thankfully the roads were clear….and everything was so beautiful!

Speaking of beautiful – we were there with my brother and sister and families…..

If you’ve never been to Lake Arrowhead Village you definitely should put it on your bucket list!

We ate lunch at the Tap Room — I enjoyed a super yummy chicken sandwich with Sweet Potato Tots — delish!

(Where have sweet potato tots been all my life????)

And later that evening we all played a super fun card game – that I would definitely recommend to you!!

It’s called “Taco! Cat! Goat! Cheese! Pizza!” and it’s is as unique as its name.

We are generally not a game playing family but this is fast paced and filled to the brim with hand slapping mayhem!  We had so much fun!

The next morning it was time to climb back down from the clouds and head back to reality…until next time!

What can I say:  I’m Feeling Blessed!

And do you know what else I’m blessed by?     Capturing amazing moments for you to treasure for a lifetime!
