Frivolous Friday: A Holiday Lunch, Lake Hodges & a Vacation for my Cameras
It’s Frivolous Friday!
Thought I would share some of the fun I squeezed in this week (in between all my portrait sessions and retouching work.)
Yep, this happened #1:
Enjoyed a festive holiday lunch this week! And yes, you can still celebrate Christmas in early January!
Each year, sweet Roseanna treats the Board of Children’s Ministry to an amazing lunch and we’ve been getting together in January because it’s so much easier on everyone’s schedule….
and it makes for an awesome treat instead of something squeezed into our hectic December schedule.
And RANDOMLY, we met on January 6th which happened to be Epiphany – so the Christmas decor was extra-perfect!
(If you aren’t familiar with that, Epiphany celebrates the visit of the Magi to the Christ Child. It is sometimes called Three Kings’ Day and is the day after the 12th Day of Christmas!)
The table was beautiful….
I’m so thankful for these ladies, the work we do for the children of our church AND FOR THIS LUNCH!
And she sent us each home with a beautifully wrapped Cranberry Balsamic Vinegar – sooooo yummy!
Yep, this happened #2:
I (partially) worked off some of those calories with some hiking.
And I’m pleased to report that there IS water in Lake Hodges – although you have to hike a good mile from the freeway before you see it.
Also spotted some American Pelicans enjoying the lake….
If you are inclined to hit the trails, this is a beautiful time of year to hike in San Diego.
(And if anyone is interested in joining me for a hike, let me know and I’ll plan a meet up!!)
Yep. This Happened #3
I sent my cameras on vacation without me.
Each January I block off an entire week from photographing weddings and portrait sessions to send
all my professional equipment to the Canon Factory Service Center to be cleaned, maintained and pampered so I know they are ready the hectic schedule ahead!
I have a ton of professional grade lenses and flashes as well as FOUR cameras
(I have three cameras because I carry two on me during the entire wedding day: one with my zoom lens and one with my regular lens, also have one for my second photographer and the fourth camera is there so I always have a backup!)
I’m happy to report that everything got a clean bill of health and one of my cameras got a shiny new LCD back screen,
and a nice, new shutter assembly because it had captured 255,000 photos since it’s last shutter replacement two years ago!
255,000 photos captured in TWO YEARS – of just one of my cameras! WOW! No wonder I have a callus on my trigger finger!
So all of us (me and all my gear) have had a nice week of rest and refreshment and we are ready to dive into a new year of photography!
So bring it on world – We’re prepped and READY for your Proposal, Engagement, Wedding, Family Portrait Session,
High School Seniors, Babies, Cake Smashes, Headshots, Parties, Events, Product Photography, etc, etc, etc
BRING IT ON ! I’m excited to serve you!
What can I say: I’m Feeling Blessed!
And do you know what else I’m blessed by? Capturing amazing moments for you to treasure for a lifetime!
sessions are an hour long with unlimited poses, unlimited outfits, unlimited fun!
