Holiday Cards: Hassle or Heirloom? Fun, Fabulous, Custom Family Outdoor Photos

Do you consider Holiday Cards to be a Hassle or an Heirloom?

Here are my thoughts….

Over the years, I found some very important benefits to taking the time and actually getting family portraits done this time of year…

Remember the feeling you get when you open your mailbox and pull out an actual letter among the usual bunch of promotional flyers and catalogs. It feels pretty awesome!

And that is exactly how people feel receiving YOUR holiday card!

And as much as I love digital greetings, it will never be the same as physically opening that envelope and pulling out a tangible printed card.

Have you ever gone through the stack of your family’s holiday cards over the years?

If your family is new and you don’t have that history yet, that’s ok.

I’ve sat down with clients who pulled out a stack of cards from the past 10 years and let me tell you, it brings a wealth of emotions and gratitude to see them.

We all take tons of pictures of our children. But what about the whole family?

What about a quality portrait where everyone actually likes how they look? The truth is, once our babies get older, we get a lot lazier about prioritizing photography.

Years go by, and we end up with teenagers going off to college and no good family photos for all those years in-between.

Holiday cards wake parents up and prompt them to go out and hire a photographer so that they have something decent for their card

I know it always seems like there’s no time for anything during the holiday months..

and it’s definitely true if you are responsible for planning, dressing, preparing,  planning and time-managing the photoshoot.

Most photographers leave it up to their clients to do all that work. That’s 100% WHY I do things differently.

I spend a lot of hours working on each family’s session, outside of the photoshoot itself. That includes helping with outfits, pre-visiting locations so I have a plan for our portrait session,

Offering professional posing advice (flattering poses = portraits you love!) and keeping our time together FUN.

After our session I spend hours selecting final images, retouching, making a video show,  arranging for printing and your canvas and sending out your goodies.

I do all this stuff so you don’t have to!

Your time is valuable and hiring an expert in photography should mean that you get that time back, don’t you think?
