Frivolous Friday: Supreme Craftiness due to HBDD and Julian in the Autumn!

It’s Frivolous Friday!

Thought I would share some of the fun I squeezed in this week (in between all my portrait sessions and retouching work.)

Yep, this happened #1:

I’ve always suffered from HBDD: Holiday Big Deal Disorder.

I can’t help it and it might be getting worse…..I’ve ALWAYS loved holidays and anything I can do to make it a big deal – I will do!

(Yes I still pull April Fools pranks on my hubby,  make him eat green food on St. Patrick’s Day and send Matt care packages several times a year…

and  I also LOVE to decorate my house for each holiday – so YEP my house is looking fall-ish and festive right now!

My mom is a ceramic artist, so I have lots of beautiful things that she made!

And I just love these little forest creatures – they are a fun part of my dining room table centerpiece in the fall and then into winter!

So I’ll just have to apologize for my HBDD….but I’m pretty sure I’m incurable!

Speaking of me having HBDD…this year I added a few new decorations that I MADE.

Nothing like a quick little craft project to make you feel like a SUPREME CRAFTER – hee hee!

This was printed paper glued on an old Encyclopedia I picked up at the thrift store – added a little brown paint to distress it and it was finished….ta daaaa!

And I actually have a second craft too — my friends and I got together for a fun little morning of crafting with this quick and easy string art project…

(I think this would be great for kids!)

If you want the directions and patterns for either project please let me know.

Yep, this happened #2:

Speaking of festive fall – I always have to visit Julian or it doesn’t seem like autumn, and this was the week!

We didn’t get to pick apples this year, but we admired the fall leaves…

And I stepped in my first crunch leaves of the season:  Very satisfying!

Yep.  This happened #3

We did a teeny bit of shopping and had an amazing lunch at the Julian Cafe!

And the waitress at the Julian Cafe always remembers us and calls us her “Apple Salad Gals”

That makes us feel so special!

Their apple salad is one of those salads that has so many goodies in it that they spill over the edge of the plate….

You know the kind I mean?

The kind of salad that probably has more calories than a hamburger and fries?

Yep. That kind of salad!

***This one features candied walnuts, crisp, cool apples, blue cheese sprinkles, warm grilled chicken and lemon poppyseed dressing.

Well, I guess there’s some lettuce in there too — but even with lettuce added it’s seriously pure heaven on a plate!

And I brought home an apple dumpling for hubby because I’m all about doing nice things for people – especially when they’ll probably give me a bite… ?

It was a great day and lots of fun! If you haven’t been up to Julian lately, head on up!

What can I say:  I’m Feeling Blessed!
