Frivolous Friday! A DOUBLE honor, Pumpkins and Other Spooky Things
It’s Frivolous Friday!
Thought I would share some of the fun I squeezed in this week (in between all my portrait sessions and retouching work.)
Yep, this happened #1:
I teared up and felt honored! Here’s the back story –
one of my long time clients (aka friends) called me months ago to ask me to save the date for her husband’s Retirement Ceremony from the Marines.
And this week, the big day arrived – Yay!
I met them on the runway of MCAS Miramar to capture not only his Retirement Ceremony but also HIS LAST FLIGHT as a Fighter Pilot…..
I captured each moment of his last flight: from gearing up in the locker room, to walking out to the flight line, taking off, a fly over and the most amazing
landing you ever want to see (you have to watch the video to see, but let’s just say it involved a tunnel of water high in the air!)
After the flight the official retirement ceremony began – what an honor to be asked to share and capture such a special day!

It was an exciting and emotional day – but here’s the second honor of the day: I felt honored to be their photographer for life.
(I definitely teared up when I happened to see the photo page of their program – it was a lifetime of newborn, family and military homecoming photos
and almost every one of them was captured by me — I felt like I was part of their family and I was so honored to be their photographer for life!
So make sure you watch the video – I can guarantee you will be smiling while you watch it!
Yep, this happened #2:
I just couldn’t resist stopping at a pumpkin patch to see the sights…
And admire all their gazillions of big beautiful pumpkins!
And how clever is their GIANT spider….?
We also strolled around their little farm yard and I couldn’t resist buying a “Baby Pam” pumpkin!
Whaaaat?
Who knew I was a pumpkin?
***I asked their resident pumpkin expert and she said Baby Pams are wonderful in pumpkin pie…so I just had to buy one!
Yep, this happened #3:
The very day I got home from the pumpkin patch I made myself a pumpkin pie from my Baby Pam Pumpkin!!
Gasp!
I happened to have all the ingredients on hand (gasp again!) so I whipped it right up.
And because my hubby doesn’t like pumpkin pie, I will be eating the ENTIRE PIE all by myself…..so pass the whipped cream!
[And side note – it’s WAAAAAY easier to open a can of Libby’s pumpkin than prepare you own pumpkin from scratch….ha…!]
And I have one more spooky thing to share with you…
The full moon from a few days ago.
Is it just me or does it look like the scene is all ready for a witch to fly across on her broom???
What can I say: I’m Feeling Blessed!
And do you know what else I’m blessed by? Capturing amazing moments for you to treasure for a lifetime!
