Frivolous Friday! Oktoberfest, a Hike and Anastasia

It’s Frivolous Friday!

Thought I would share some of the fun I squeezed in this week (in between all my portrait sessions and retouching work.)

Yep, this happened #1:

Last weekend the hubs and I zipped up to Lake Arrowhead for a little R & R (it was my last weekend until January where I’m not already scheduled so I HAD to do something!)

We had such a fun time at the Lake Arrowhead Village Oktoberfest – we clapped and stomped along with the band….

Lake Arrowhead Village is fun all year long with some cute outlet stores and amazing views…

We go up a few times a year because we have free access to the family cabin – yay for that!

Did a little shopping….and a little bit of munching….

And -you know me, I couldn’t resist a photo with the Oktoberfest Emcee

(who happens to be a Math Teacher from San Diego during the week – how fun is that?)

Yep, this happened #2:

We also went on a few awesome hikes….and guess what: I brought my cellphone camera!
Whaaaaat?
Yep – it’s the camera that’s always with you right?
Well here are a few things that caught my eye.

A pinecone bigger than me….almost

And I collected a few pieces of evidence that autumn is here….

And we found a little boy’s Secret Hide Out – deep in the forest – is that the sweetest?

Some REALLY TALL trees surrounded by lots of crisp, fresh mountain air….

A pretty cool old Chevy….

And a bird house that had some custom fall decorations courtesy of Mother Nature!

Yep, this happened #3:

We zipped home from Lake Arrowhead in time to see Saw Broadway San Diego’s production of Anastasia and loved, loved, LOVED it!

The story is based on the legend of Grand Duchess Anastasia Nikolaevna of Russia, who could have escaped the execution of her family.

The musical traces an amnesiac orphan named Anya who hopes to find some trace of her family by siding with two con men who wish to take advantage of her likeness to the Grand Duchess.

The projection, costumes and singing was AMAZING!

I’ll stop a second to say that I am a HUGE fan of Season Tickets for the theatre – not only does it give you a discount and free exchange privileges if you need to swap dates,

but it gives you a variety of performance genres that you might not have chosen individually.

(Honestly, I hadn’t heard anything about Anastasia beforehand – but it was an awesome show!)

The other good part of it is I only have to get my hubby to agree ONCE to the whole season of shows.  (He’s one of those people that doesn’t like to make plans in advance – and

would prefer to just decide an hour before and then go — the problem is, when the time arrives, staying home often feels easier so we end up doing nothing –

so Season Tickets guarantee a bunch of date nights!  😉

**Of course photography isn’t allowed during the show – so only the first photo is mine — the rest were borrowed from their website.

What can I say:  I’m Feeling Blessed!
