So baby is on the way and you are looking to capture this amazing time….but are you wondering how to find the perfect newborn photographer for you?

I’d love to give you some things to think about:

First, love their work – obviously.  But then ask what they do to insure your baby’s safety.

Some newborn poses that you might have seen on pinterest are actually risky for your newborn – especially if they aren’t done correctly.

**I only offer 100% safe poses and work from a low beanbag to insure baby’s safety.

But in addition to that,  I always ask daddy to sit next to me with one purpose:  be baby’s security guard!

(Is baby going to wake up and suddenly leap off my bean bag?  Probably not, but why risk it?)

Next, find out what will be included in the cost of your newborn portraits – some photographers only offer a la carte pricing,

so you may end up spending a ton more money than you originally intended.

**My newborn collections are complete – including a canvas for your wall and a flash drive with all your digital negatives so you can share on social media,

make your own prints, wall art, and use for birth announcements and holiday cards.

Ask to see an entire newborn gallery – not just the photographer’s portfolio.

Make sure that gallery demonstrates beautiful photography throughout with genuine smiles and a variety of styles and props.

And make sure they include family photography – because you are creating heirlooms for future generations –  so of course mom, dad and siblings need to be in the portraits!

**And side note – I really want to give my clients more than just newborn portraits so I really encourage family portraits.

And Sweet Life clients also have the choice of black or white background for their family portraits

(White is light and bright, but black can be very slimming for new moms and can put greater emphasis on faces – but you choose!)

Ask your photographer if they can capture siblings with the baby….

As well as all those precious bits and pieces… lol

Ask if your photographer will retouch the portraits (baby’s skin is often not as smooth and creamy as we might want…lol and baby acne is definitely a real thing!)

And ask how long until you will see your entire gallery –

you will be excited to share your newborn portraits so maybe you don’t want to wait a month to see your portraits?

Ask if they will give advice on how mom should dress and prepare….

Ask what props, hats and blankets they will have available for you to use….

And can you bring the grandparents?
