Frivolous Friday! Big Happenings at my house: An Author, a Luscious Dessert and Owls

It’s Frivolous Friday!

Thought I would share some of the fun I squeezed in this week (in between all my portrait sessions and retouching work.)

Yep, this happened #1:

Enjoyed a chat with a real author this week!   (Via facetime, but that’s exciting too, don’t you think?)

This month was my turn to host my book club and I chose the book “I liked my Life” by Abby Fabiaschi.

Well,  as I was doing some research in preparation for the meeting, I noticed the author’s website encouraged book clubs to contact her for

a video chat.  So I emailed her and she said “YES!”

Isn’t that fun and oh so awesome?  So we all pretended we were very literary, grown up and smart and had the best chat with her!

We liked her so much we all felt like she could be our friend – and we hope she will look us up if she’s ever in San Diego.

Yep, this happened #2:

And if you didn’t already know this, one thing that’s special about my book club is we serve lunch that’s in

keeping with the theme of the book.  (So if a character in the book eats salmon – that’s what we serve!)

So we have so much fun planning (when you are the hostess) and enjoying when we are an attendee.

I made an amazing salmon, spiced rice and salad – and for dessert this Chocolate Peanut Butter, Butterfinger Lush.

Oh. MY.  I can’t begin to tell you how yummy it was.

(I chose it because Butterfinger candy bars were an important part of the book!)

(Well it was so yummy I literally had to THROW AWAY the leftovers because I couldn’t keep my fork out of it every time I opened the fridge!)

Recipe HERE if you want to try it.

Yep, this happened #3:

My most exciting news of the past few weeks is that a couple of Barn Owls have moved into our Owl House!

And if you know me AT ALL, you know I have a camera inside so we can enjoy all the antics.

These two owls are triggering the motion detector over 100 times each night – so I’m making it easy on you and compiling the

best videos into one show.

Here’s a little compilation show of some of the amazing video clips just so you can peek – but please

click over to my BLOG to see all TEN shows, see more photos of my owls and learn a little something – you will be amazed!
