Frivolous Friday! What I learned from Poppies and Pie on Pi Day!

It’s Frivolous Friday!

Thought I would share some of the fun I squeezed in this week (in between all my portrait sessions and retouching work.)

Raise your hand if you know me well enough that you guess I would drive up to Lake Elsinore to see the poppies?

Well if you have your hand up, you are RIGHT!

How could I pass up something called a SUPER BLOOM?   :-O

[But I think SPECTACULAR BLOOM would be a better description!]

Honestly, I have never seen so many beautiful flowers in one place in my life!

I was out of breath with excitement the entire morning and it wasn’t just because we were hiking up a steep hill – it really does just take your breath away!

Spending my morning with those beautiful poppies taught me a few lessons I thought I’d share with you:

Lesson #1:  Don’t be afraid to reach for the stars, you are unique!

Together we can make a bigger impact

Don’t be afraid to BE PURPLE in a world of orange…

Always share

Good Friends can come in all shapes, sizes and colors

Always take the road less travelled.

Keep your face toward the heavens and shadows will fall behind you.

Grow where you are planted

Be a flower rather than a weed.

Now a side note — in case you plan to go visit the poppies yourself (and I hope you do!)  Beware of  the crowds!

We arrived at the Walker Canyon Trailhead near Lake Elsinore (map link is HERE) at 9:30am on Thursday and there were already hundreds of people there.

By the time we left (around noon) there was a long line of cars trying to exit the freeway and the parking areas around the trail were gridlocked.

So if you plan to go (and I hope you do, it really is amazing) arrive super early, bring water and a snack, comfy shoes and your patience!

And a happy side note:

I found an amazing Poppy-Filled Portrait Location near Poway with NO CROWDS  – It’s perfect for Family, Engagement or High School Senior Portraits!

Yep, this happened on Thursday too:

Celebrated Pi Day (3.14)  by baking hubby’s favorite:  Cherry Pie.

(Actually….I’ll confess that Sarah Lee helped get the pie started but I promise I did ALL the baking!)

😉  Sometimes you need a shortcut… am I right or am I wrong?  After All,  I needed to spend my day at the Super Bloom!
