Frivolous Friday: How much snow do you need for fun? And Family Craziness
Frivolous: carefree and not serious, lighthearted, giddy
What three things happened this week in between all my portrait sessions and retouching work???
Well…let me tell you….
Yep, this happened #1:
Last weekend my brother and sister and their families joined the hubs and I for a little Lake Arrowhead mountain get away and I had so much fun!
We have literally been planning this for two months….my weekends are ALWAYS booked with portrait sessions, so if I don’t schedule that far in advance I can’t get away.
Anyway – we’d been watching the weather forecast all week and it looked like we were only going to get RAIN. Boo Hoo.
But at 5:00am Saturday morning (yep, I was up checking on it) it started to SNOW!!!
Well my brother, sister and I did a happy dance…that went something like this….hee hee…
Yep, this happened #2:
It snowed for about two hours and we ended up with about half an inch of glorious white stuff — so we gobbled up our breakfast and ran out front to play.
We tried to squish in as much fun as we could – so first a snow angel in the street…
Then we grabbed a sled…
And of course building a snowman was next on the list!
***Like I said there wasn’t a ton of snow, but we made it all happen – kinda like making lemonade when life hands you lemons????
Maybe? Kinda? Sorta?
Next on our snowy to do list was a walk!
Don’t you just LOVE how a light sprinkling of snow makes everything so beautiful? Even the STREET was gorgeous!
And the snow made everything sparkle like diamonds!
And look what we spotted along the way — rabbit tracks!
Here’s me and my beautiful sister!
And while you are meeting my family – how sweet is this portrait of my brother and his fiance?
And I can’t resist sharing a few other playing in the snow photos of me when I was little…
Well, in the end we all decided that the entire weekend had been perfect and there wasn’t a single thing we would change!
Here’s one more sweet little shot I captured as we were leaving the next morning….
Goodbye little cabin – thanks for a super fun weekend!
And guess where we stopped on the way home????
Yep, this happened #3:
Made a little side trip on the way home to check out Bass Pro Shop in Rancho Cucamonga.
It’s been on my bucket list since forever so hubby humored me.
Essentially it looks like it was built by Disney and is nearly 180,000 square feet (for perspective, a costco is usually 145,000 square feet! The inside is sculpted to look like caves, rocks, waterfalls, animals and even has a huge tank of bass swimming around the elevator!
and let me tell you I’ve never seen so much outdoor gear in my life -like thousands of fishing poles (who knew you needed that kind of selection? Isn’t a pole a pole?)
They have a camouflage clothing section bigger than my entire house and yet still sell quirky things like moose plates!
And if you ever need a life size fish pillow I know where you can get one….
Guess what I bought?
Some peanut butter fudge from their Fudge shop! How UN-outdoorsmen was I???
But YUM it’s my fav and CLEARLY I needed nourishment after wrestling a shark!!
(And because it was peanut butter fudge, I’m counting it as a protein so it’s on my diet! Whew!)
What can I say: I’m Feeling Blessed!
sessions are an hour long with unlimited poses, unlimited outfits, unlimited fun!
