Frivolous Friday! Guess WHO-OOO Visited My House? Some REALLY Sweet Treats and Being Mindful

Frivolous:  carefree and not serious, lighthearted, giddy

What three things happened this week in between all my portrait sessions and retouching work???
Well…let me tell you….

Yep, this happened #1:

Guess WHO-OOO Visited My House this week?

A barn owl!!!   Yay!

If you aren’t up on the story, six years ago we built a barn owl house for our backyard –  and that very first winter we had a couple of  Barn owls (a.k.a. Screech Owls!)

Well they got married 😉 then moved in, laid eggs and raised their babies.  We had a camera in the owl house so we all watched!

So amazing for sure –

….well each year we’ve hoped for another owl family….but haven’t had any luck.

We’ve had owls stop in to check the place out but haven’t had another owl family since that first year.

Well two days ago we had a visitor!

Fingers crossed that he (or she) finds a mate and moves in permanently.

These photos aren’t the best – obviously they are screen shots from our super secret Owl Security Camera….

Past experience has shown us that Barn Owl “canoodling” [if you know what I mean]  begins in January;

with egg laying in February and babies born in March – so stay tuned!!!)

Yep, this happened #2:

Got a little over-excited this week…can’t help it though…..you know me….  😉

I was excited on several levels—-

First,  my Food Truck friends “Sweet Treats” have added to their family with a Storefront!  How awesome is that?

Now whenever you need a treat, or desserts for your party or meeting….

you can just STOP IN!

And one of the new products that they just invented is a gourmet ice cream bar….

here’s what makes it unique – first you choose a housemade ice cream or gelato bar (the flavors are amazing – like Red Velvet Cake, Coconut, Dark Chocolate or Mango to name a few!)

Then you head over to their Toppings bar where FOUR MAGICAL THINGS HAPPEN TO IT.

First you get it dipped in chocolate,

Then choose a topping (Oreos, Pecans?  Sprinkles? Etc)

Then pick a Drizzle of gooey wonderfulness

THEN get it dusted with sea salt, cayenne, etc —

You can invent your own spectacular creation!

I have it on REALLY GOOD Authority (ahem…wink, wink….) that they are delicious!

And I almost forgot to tell you another spectacular thing about the Sweet Treats Truck Stop –

my photos of their trucks, motorcycle and events are all over the walls!!!

WOOT!

So stop by and have a sweet treat and a smile!

Make sure you stop by during their official grand opening this Tuesday (they are in Penasquitos near Vons and Round Table Pizza!)

HERE is their website – go enjoy a treat and wish them well on their new grand adventure!

Yep, this happened #3:

Think Theme for a minute……

If you were challenged to chose a one word theme you would like to strive for or toward in 2019, what would it be?

Let me backup and give you the whole scoop –

one of the podcasts I listen to and love (“Happier” by Gretchin Rubin link HERE) suggested that having a

simple one word theme for the year can keep your goal simple and at the top of your mind all year long.

I’ve chosen my theme for the year and it’s going to be …drumroll please….”mindful”

I plan to have that theme to remind me to slow down, think in the present and appreciate everything just a little more than I already do.

I’m a fast mover, a go-getter and list maker, so I tend to be thinking ahead all the time…and while I do stop and soak things in, I’m going to try to do that more….so stay tuned to that.

And as the perfect illustration for Mindfullness I found this precious little scene at Torrey Pines Beach this week during my morning walk –

I’m thinking whoever made it might be trying to be more mindful too….what do you think?

And tell me what your word for 2019 will be!  I REALLY want to know!

What can I say:  I’m Feeling Blessed!
