Frivolous Friday: Lighting the Night, Food and a Lifesize Gingerbread House

Frivolous:  carefree and not serious, lighthearted, giddy

Guess what three things happened this week in between all my portrait sessions and retouching work???
Well…let me tell you….

Yep, this happened #1:

Had so much fun at Balboa Park’s December Night Celebration this past weekend!  Hubby and I have the perfect, no hassle, no crowds, easy parking way to enjoy all the festivities!

The lily pond is lit up so beautifully with changing lights and snowflake projection….STUNNING!

Here’s my secret to the perfect Winter Nights experience — first of all,  promise you won’t tell anyone…..?

We always arrive around 3:00  on Friday and park near the zoo – first we stroll around the zoo for an hour and then head into Balboa Park – it’s not busy, the food lines are short and all the museums are FREE!

We always stop by the Automotive Museum (hubby’s favorite!) And this time,  Santa invited us aboard his classic car.  (Which totally makes sense, he can’t be driving around in a sleigh in sunny San Diego!)

Enjoyed an up close and personal SHARK ENCOUNTER!
And how about a San Diego themed Christmas tree in the Spanish Art Village?
And if you missed the celebration, you should still stop by – all the decorations and lights will be up for the rest of the month.

Yep. This happened #2

And what did I eat while I was at Balboa Park?  A super delish lobster roll (we couldn’t resist reminiscing about our New England Vacation!  HERE if you missed that!)

And I ABSOLUTELY POSITIVILY had to buy some of my beloved Kettle Corn.  I ALWAYS buy a bag on my way out – whether it’s the County Fair, an amusement park, the farmer’s market – whatever.  I’m hopelessly addicted!   We make it last for a few days of pure yumminess!   [And side note – did you know my hands get cold easily?  So I wear gloves if it’s below 70 degrees and these are my favs because they have touch screen technology and that is just what I need!  MUNCH

Yep. This happened #3

Speaking of MUNCH,  the next night I wanted to take a bite out of a LIFESIZE gingerbread house at the Rancho Bernardo Inn…but restrained myself.

We were there for a little family dinner (great spot by the way for a festive meal- I recommend it!) at their Veranda Restaurant – the seating was outside with a live band and the food was SOOOO good!)  And then afterwards we walked around looking at all their Christmas decorations….

The lifesize gingerbread house is amazing – the whole room smells wonderful and there’s an entire scene inside the house too – make sure you take time to stop by.

Hope your week is SWEET and oh so BLESSED!
