Frivolous Friday: Pinkies Up for High Tea and Penguins Galore! Sea World Photographer

Frivolous:  carefree and not serious, lighthearted, giddy

Guess what three things happened this week in between all my portrait sessions and retouching work???
Well…let me tell you….

Yep, this happened #1:

PINKIES UP!

This week I had the pleasure of enjoying High Tea at Marlene’s Tea and Cakes

And in case you’ve never been -you must go~!

(It’s the sweetest little tea house in 4-S Ranch  – you are treated like a princess and eat delicacies fit for a king!)

I’ll give you a quick recap so you know what to expect:    first you enjoy the beautiful and classy decor…and you order a beautiful pot of tea (they have a whole menu with just flavors of tea!)

Then a perfect little bowl of soup is placed in front of you — with a puffy little crackery/biscuity thing balanced beautifully over it.    Swoon!

That is followed by a three tiered display of yumminess…

The top layer of the display is every beautiful little dessert you can think of with cream, glitter and all things gorgeous as a garnish.

Tier two is warm cranberry scones, clotted cream and fresh fruit (cut into beautiful shapes!)

The bottom layer is the most precious little sandwiches – three kinds of sammies, plus little baby quiches AND little beef wellingtons….

Seriously so much food you can’t begin to eat it all….

so you get to take some home for tomorrow…so then you get two days in a row of pinkies up.

And in case you were wondering if I was there for a special occasion, I  WAS!

My book club buddies were there to celebrate 15 years of fun, friendship and BOOKS!

[Did you know we were a  book club before book clubs were cool?….yep…..we STARTED the trend I think….]

Yep, this happened #2:

I am love, love, LOVING my Christmas decorations!

I always decorate my home during my Thanksgiving break so I can enjoy the holiday sweetness as long as possible.

For the past 6 years or so I’ve been changing the theme of my Christmas tree each year….

(just a few changes mind you:  I’m all about being thrifty – I’m not talking a full Canterbury Garden$ makeover here…for sure!)

This year was my second year with all things PENGUIN!

My penguin obsession started two years ago when I couldn’t resist this sweet penguin and wool wreath….

(The wreath came with two penguins so of course I had to add a third Matt Penguin!)

That wreath started the theme and then I went wild with it!

I decided a Penguin themed Christmas tree would be just the thing…..

And then I added more penguins skiing and sledding down my stair rail….

Weeeeeeeee………

Also along the stairs is what might be my favorite Christmas decoration of all,

My family portrait display.

It includes one family portrait  for each year of Matt’s whole life (plus one extra year – our wedding day!)

Some are professional portraits and some are from our family vacation.

This is only on display at Christmas, so each year I love looking back to see all the fun we’ve had  – this is the story of our life!

(Can you tell I’ve been PHOTOGRAPHY OBSESSED since forever?)

It definitely brings me JOY!

Yep, this happened #3:

Speaking of Penguins, ever seen a headless one?

Well here you go (No photoshop!)

….kidding of course…he really did have a head but how funny that it was tucked under his wing so he looked headless!

And I bet that gave you a clue that I had just enough time this week to enjoy my morning walk at Sea World.

We didn’t have time to see any shows but definitely enjoyed their Christmas decorations!

And this would be the perfect time to mention that I’m STILL OVER THE MOON that

I was asked to be one of Sea World’s PREFERRED PHOTOGRAPHERS for Engagements, Weddings, Events and Parties….waWHOOO!

Oh.  And almost got eaten by the Abominable Snowman….but escaped….whew!

What can I say:  I’m Feeling Blessed!
