Frivolous Friday: Celebrating, Camera Cookies and Getting Culture

Frivolous:  carefree and not serious, lighthearted, giddy

Guess what three things happened this week in between all my portrait sessions and retouching work???
Well…let me tell you….

Yep, this happened #1:

Did a little happy dance this week!   Wanna know why?

Well, October 1st marked my nine year anniversary of taking a huge leap of faith and starting my sweet little company:  Savoring The Sweet Life Photography! [ Woot!  Cue the roar of the crowd!]

And I have felt so happy and blessed since day one!

Of course I’d had a camera in my hand for a million years before that day.

I had been photographing family, church, PTA,  Boy Scouts, Marching Band, friends, families, even a wedding, etc,

for years and years before that, but 9 years ago this week I said,

“THIS is what I want to do for the rest of my life!”

So I let Uncle Sam know via a Business License and it’s been smooth and happy sailing since then.

[Okay there may have been just one or two minutes of that nine years that I didn’t feel ‘HAPPY with all capital letters’ but you know what I mean…. 😉 ]

And I’m just going to say that although I’m hardly the only photographer out there,  I do believe I have something different to offer than anyone else who claims to do what I do –

My goal as always been:  You should have FUN during our portrait time and then SWOON with love when you see your retouched portraits a week later.

I absolutely promise I’m gonna knock your socks off with the highest level of customer service imaginable,

extreme pampering  with with a goal of 110% client satisfaction,

stellar professional photography and posing,  a TON of choices in your gallery, beautiful hand retouching

and I want you be my forever friend!!!!  PLEASE!

That’s me summed up in one really long, run-on sentence that of course must end in exclamation marks!!!!

(BTW:  I know I use too many exclamation marks but I can’t help it – I THINK in exclamation marks!!!!)

And one more Fun Fact before we move along from sappiness:  I’ve given beautiful portrait and wedding memories to over ONE THOUSAND clients in the past nine years….?  WHAAAAAAT?

If my mission statement sounds like something you’d love to be a part of,  I’d love to meet you!

Yep.  This happened #2

I decided to celebrate my 9 year milestone with a fun little anniversary treat.  After some brainstorming and time on Pinterest I decided I needed some camera cookies!

Aren’t they just adorable?  Thanks to Jill at Cute Cakes for designing them especially for me!

Guess who I shared my beautiful cookies with?

My Vice President:  my hubby!

He has been a part of my company from before Day One:   helping me,  encouraging me, brainstorming ideas, letting me talk-out challenges,  researching new gear,

reminding me to stop and eat during my 12 hour days,  letting me whine when some whining needed to be done 😉 ,

getting up before dawn to accompany me on a sunrise shoot (so I’m not alone somewhere in the dark, etc, etc, etc…..)

Couldn’t have made this journey without him.  So here’s a little cheer for the milk to my cookie!  😉

I presented him with his cookie and he decided right away that he was going to EAT it…

But I couldn’t decide…it was so beautiful….should I save it?

…..what would you do???

Well, if you know me at all you know my answer:

(Never pass up a dessert!  But I am going to eat it slowly over a few days….so that’s kind of a compromise….because it really is a HUGE cookie!)

Yep.  This Happened #3

Visited Balboa Park after dark….

I’m a member of San Diego Museum of Art and was invited to attend one of their “Culture and Cocktails” celebrations.

I pretended I was very cultured, dressed all hip and trendy (not) and walked right in.

It was fun to stroll around pretending we were artsy!

The event was highlighting the sculpture of Javier Marín – so there were live statues to entertain and excite….

Isn’t this living statue beautiful?

Check out how gracefully the living statues moved:

Oh.  And we got to pose with a LIVING statue….yowza!

What can I say:  I’m Feeling Blessed!
