Frivolous Friday: Deer & FEAR, a Devilicious Lunch & Thinking Ahead to 2019
Frivolous: carefree and not serious, lighthearted, giddy
Guess what three things happened this week in between all my portrait sessions and retouching work???
Well…let me tell you….
Yep, this happened #1:
Did you know I’m a pretty hardcore hiker? Well I am.
Hardy enough to keep on hiking even in all this heat! I slather myself in sunscreen and then cover up with my super ugly sunhat and my SPF Sun shirt and we hit the trail.
(Side note: is there anything better than a long, skinny morning shadow? Wish I looked like that in real life….)
Well anywhoo….this past week on our usual 7 mile hike to the Pen Canyon waterfall we had TWO close encounters of the wild kind.
One was a mamma deer and two precious little fawns…so cute!
And the second was not as cute – a rattlesnake!
I’ll admit to jumping around and acting like a sissy when my hiking pal yelled “SNAKE!”
In my defense, I wasn’t sure where it was so I did a ridiculous and pathetic EEK – SISSY – DANCE for a couple seconds. (Sheesh….please tell me no one was watching???)
I finally settled myself down and thankfully I had the presence of mind to snap a photo – I mean can we please get our priorities straight – photos are important!
We let him slither along his way then we headed on our way too….
So clearly the question of the day is does heart-racing fear burn more calories???? Like enough to counteract the smoothie on the way home from the hike?
Yep, this happened #2:
Speaking of burning more calories….also tried a new restaurant this week in Temecula. (We discovered it because we needed a halfway spot to meet our Los Angeles family for lunch for a quick summertime catch-up…with Ketchup….ha ha…oh I crack myself up….)
We tried “Devilicious” in Temecula’s Old Town and I’ll tell you it was FABULOUS. I had their Lobster Rumble and it was to die for!
(I didn’t eat the bun so that made it healthy, right??? ….right??? I also swapped in my sweet potato fries for a salad….even though that just about killed me because I love me some Sweet Potato Fries…)
Devilicious Eatery used to be a food truck in San Diego (It won best food truck in SD for several years and was selected as one of the Top 101 Best Food Trucks in America.)
They’ve also been on the “Great Food Truck Race” TV Show — and their Temecula store was voted “The Best of the Inland Empire.”
How’s that for some amazing stats? So you don’t have to just rely on my opinion there are facts to back me up.
You can check out their website HERE
And how’s this for a fun coincidence, four years ago I photographed a wedding that they catered at Bates Nut Farm.
The beautiful fall wedding of Hannah and Josh
Yep, this happened #3:
I’m just going to say this flat out… promise you won’t roll your eyes.
I have a small love affair going with beautiful and fun stationery supplies.
I can’t help it, I just love a beautiful note card, shiny purple paper clips, themed post-its, beautiful markers, purple envelopes, a camera shaped tape dispenser, etc, etc, etc.
Anyone else? [crickets….]
Well my exciting event of the week from the stationery front is that my beautiful new 2019 Calendar just arrived!
OOOO! I’ve already booked so many weddings for next year, I needed to get my calendar going early!
(Yes, I use a paper calendar in addition to my computer/phone calendar – I need both to feel on top of my crazy amazing life!)
Let me just state that my office calendar is a carefully chosen work of art – it must be the perfect size, a cute style, the perfect color (with BUTTERFLIES no less,) be spiral bound and have just the right sized daily spaces to write in.
Feast your eyes on this work of art — all crisp and full of potential!
With purple accessories ready to help make my vision come to life…..AHHHH.
And I feel so completely ORGANIZED (all except for having to write an extra note on the last page of my 2019 calendar with an already scheduled 2020 wedding date….how long till the 2020 calendar is available….?)
(And another thing I already did was write in all the PUSD and Scripps Ranch and San Diego School calendar dates so I knew when I should be especially available for my clients.
So if you happen to need the PUSD calendar link for 2018-2019 HERE you go and Scripps Ranch San Diego Unified is HERE…..
