Frivolous Friday: Philly Philly!

Frivolous:  carefree and not serious, lighthearted, giddy

Guess what three things happened this week in between all my portrait sessions and retouching work???
Well…let me tell you….

Yep, this happened #1:

Snuck out of town for a few days this week to visit Matt!     Did I tell you he’s the Production Manager for the Philadelphia Theatre Company?

We discovered that Philadelphia is very walkable, hip and filled with fun shops, cafes and trendy places to enjoy.

And Matt’s neighborhood was voted one of the top “cool” neighborhoods in the US!

It really will be an amazing city for him to live in.

And we thought this ad campaign was super clever!  Dilly Dilly!

Yep.  This happened #2

We spent a few days touring the town.  We did all the USUAL things like visit Independence Hall and check out the crack in the Liberty Bell….

We toured the Museum of the American Revolution and the Constitution Museum…

But because we are kinda quirky tourists we also visited the “Mudder Museum of Medical Oddities”

(They didn’t allow photography, but click HERE if you want a peek…it’s definitely ODD)

We really enjoyed the Eastern State Penitentiary,  a National Historic Landmark, built in 1829 and now in a pretty fabulous state of ruin.

Side note:  The Penitentiary has an amazing audio tour – anyone else a BIG fan of a good audio tour???  We just love them and have pretty much vowed to never pass up an audio tour!

We went on a Nighttime Ghost Walking Tour and visited several old cemeteries…

Edgar Allen Poe’s final resting place has a raven at the top with:

“Quoth the Raven: Nevermore”

How awesome is that?

And I just have to share this portrait I captured from the top of the double decker hop on hop off bus:

I’m calling it “Reflections of Old in New”

What do you think?

Yep, this happened #3:

I ate.

A lot.

Tried a chicken and waffle slider, a Geno’s Cheesesteak and enjoyed a Chicken Parmesan dinner from the oldest Italian Restaurant in the United States, Ralphs.

(It opened in 1900 and has served an impressive list of movie stars, US Presidents,  singers from Frank Sinatra to Taylor Swift and more…!)

We also walked around Philly’s Little Italy sampling the produce, the cheeses, olive oils, and Cannoli!

I’m already looking forward to our next visit (for many reasons!) 😉

What can I say:  I’m Feeling Blessed!
