Frivolous Friday: “And They’re OFF!” Opening day at the Del Mar Races and a Crazy Stroll Around Comicon
Frivolous: carefree and not serious, lighthearted, giddy
Guess what three things happened this week in between all my portrait sessions and retouching work???
Well…let me tell you….
Yep, this happened #1:
Enjoyed my annual stroll around Comic-Con!
Each year my pal and I just head downtown and walk around – we don’t get tickets, we essentially just enjoy our morning walk in a more interesting area.
And we get to do some pretty EPIC people watching….
As you might have noticed, this year I couldn’t resist playing dress up myself.
So I present to you: ‘Super Girl Sweet Life Style’ And I’ll let you in on a little secret:
Story Telling is my Super Power! I tell stories with my camera!
[oh my is that worth an eye roll, or WHAT?]
Okay, enough corny-ness…here’s a bit more of the downtown excitement!
And if you’ve never been downtown during Comic-con – GO!
It really is fun! And in case you didn’t know, there might have been A LOT of people there….
It seems like every building has advertising on it, every little bit of open space is decorated and there are tons of places to stop and enjoy some fun experiences…even if you don’t have a ticket!
Yep, this happened #2:
As we walked around Comic-Con, I stop people to ask to take their photo – I love this because everyone always says YES and then they strike a pose that fits their costume.
So much fun! I’m already looking forward to next year!
I thought these two UP fans looked adorable! And I can’t STAND the dog on the cane….
One guy fluffed out his wings for me!
[Side note: I do not have A CLUE as to what most of these people are dressed as….but they looked good!]
This is such a fun adventure, I’m already looking forward to next year!
Yep, this happened #3:
It’s been an amazing last couple days because I also checked off one of my San Diego Bucket List items –
I went to Del Mar’s Opening Day at the races!
[I’ve only been to the races once about ten years ago and since then I’ve been wanted to see what Opening Day looks like.]
And, well, it’s pretty fun!
The biggest difference between Opening Day and regular race days seems to be more formal attire. We noticed that everyone seemed a little more dressed up on Opening Day.
And of course there were lots of hats: small hats, big hats, subtle hats and hats screaming for attention – it was fun to see them all!
Which of these hats is your favorite? (And this may be a trick question….be careful how you answer….lol)
What a whirlwind day of color, people and beautiful horses!
And one of the Companion Pony trainers gave me a smile and either a peace sign or victory?
The primary task of a companion pony, as you probably already know, is to give friendship and support and help a racehorse with its training, both in practice and on the day of a race.
What can I say: I’m Feeling Blessed!
sessions are an hour long with unlimited poses, unlimited outfits, unlimited fun!
