Frivolous Friday: Running from Dinosaurs in North Park, Tastiness at Snooze and Smelling the Roses
Guess what three things happened this week in between all my portrait sessions and retouching work???
Well…let me tell you….
Yep, this happened #1:
Read in the newspaper a few weeks ago that there are some amazing pieces of art scattered around the streets of North Park — so what did I do about it?
Plan a visit OF COURSE! …..because WHY NOT?
It has everything I love: Art, San Diego, Adventure and Fun!
And of course I brought my little camera to add photography into the excursion thereby making the whole morning=PERFECTION!
Side note, did you look carefully at the dinosaur pic to spot me demonstrating my oh so incredible acting skills?
….and speaking of looking carefully, isn’t it cool how the artist added the shadow on the wall too?
There are tons of amazing works of art all around North Park. We walked around for a couple hours just enjoying the sights.
The murals are colorful and each is unique – some are BIG and some are small – but all are amazing!
Yep, this happened #2:
And after our art walk, we tried a new restaurant: Snooze!
This stylish and hip restaurant has locations in both Del Mar Heights and in Hillcrest – we visited the Hillcrest location after our dinosaur stroll and LOVED IT!
We started with an iced coffee (seriously, pouring in the cream makes for the most amazing and mesmerizingly beautiful drink!) and their “Pancake Flight” where you get to choose your three flavors of pancakes from a big list
(mine were Sweet Potato, Peanut Butter Cup and Pineapple Upside Down.)
And guess what? They were all DELISH!
Here’s their philosophy: “At Snooze, we believe life is for living and each person and each day is worth celebrating. Our mantra: it only takes a moment to make a difference.”
And what-do-you-know, that’s what I believe too – I guess me and a pancake restaurant are soulmates.
Just check out the fun headings on their menu and you’ll know you need to visit:
the art of hollandaise
flavors from the hen
ahhh la carte
Seriously, with such a fun attitude you know you are going to have a good time!
And yes, we left a bit happier than when we arrived….
….but that might just have been the sugared pecans on my Sweet Potato Pancake taking over….
Yep, this happened #3:
Took time to smell the roses! I was at Balboa Park to photograph a Family and High School Senior portrait session
– and I always arrive early (that’s how I roll for everything!)
So I decided to take a stroll through the Rose Garden and let me tell you this – it’s FABULOUS right now!
(There are great spots there for portrait backdrops – so let me know if you want a session at Balboa Park!)
If you’ve never been to our Rose Garden, get yourself over there right away – the colors are amazing and the scent heavenly.
It has more than 130 varieties on it’s three-acre site with new varieties introduced each year and bet you didn’t know it’s maintained by volunteers!
This garden was named an Outstanding Rose Garden in the U.S.A.,
received an Award of Excellence from the World Federation of Rose Societies; and in 2014 was named to the Great Rosarians of the World Hall of Fame.
(And yes, “Rosarians” -the definition of rosarian is a cultivator of roses…now we all have a new word for the day…)
What can I say: I’m Feeling Blessed!
sessions are an hour long with unlimited poses, unlimited outfits, unlimited fun!
