Frivolous Friday: RED! (A Ladybug, Dessert and a Book Club Picnic!)
Frivolous: carefree and not serious, lighthearted, giddy
Guess what three things happened this week in between all my portrait sessions and retouching work???
Well…let me tell you….
Yep, this happened #1:
My friends and I try to set a fun lunch date every 6 weeks or so — and sometimes when we are along the coast we finish our adventure with stroll through the Encinitas Meditation Garden –
The building itself might look unknown and scary, but you can enter just the gardens from the side gate and enjoy a stroll with some amazing views.
**You really should visit…it’s free, close, easy and beautiful and they welcome the public! If you’ve never been, my blogs HERE and HERE will give you the whole scoop.
My favorite pic from our latest visit was RED on RED! Yowza!
Do you think this little lady bug was trying to blend in with the anthurium….or maybe he thought this was a GIANT ladybug? 🙂
Well that got me started on a red theme for my week, so stay tuned….
Yep, this happened #2:
I’m in heaven with all the summer fruit that’s available right now! I could just eat fruit 24/7…. and I’m not exaggerating about that one bit!
I was responsible for Memorial Day dessert so I decided to take advantage of some oh-so-sweet strawberries (fresh from Mr. Costco’s Farm…)
I served chocolate and strawberries in TWO ways for dessert.
First a moist and OH SO decadent flourless chocolate cake with fresh strawberries as a garnish….
HERE is the recipe if you want to give it a try…it’s definitely a keeper! (And if you have someone who is gluten free this will fit their diet!)
And Chocolate covered strawberries because who doesn’t love a chocolate covered strawberry???
And here’s my recipe: Melt Toll House Chocolate Chips in the microwave for 45 seconds. Don’t overcook!
DIP. CHILL. EAT!!!!
Yep, this happened #3:
And I’m keeping the red theme going for the day by sharing the most beautiful picnic I attended.
My book club friend, Linda – served a lovely summer lunch in the park while we discussed her book
“An Invisible Thread: The True Story of an 11-Year-Old Panhandler, a Busy Sales Executive, and an Unlikely Meeting with Destiny”
by Laura Schroff
- We enjoyed fun red picnic decor, personalized water bottles, fresh salad in a jar, two kinds of dessert and some sparkling conversation!
