Las Vegas! The Sights, the Sounds, the Food and the FUN!
I love to travel.
Love, Love, LOVE!
Any where, any how, any way, any day.
Even a short get-away raises my happiness level by a mile….!
Hubby knows this and surprised me with an early birthday present: tickets to see Elton John’s Concert in Las Vegas –
and of course we stayed a couple days to soak in all that Vegas has to offer.
I’ll state right up front that I’m not a gambler so that part of Vegas has no appeal for me,
what I love about it is the VISUAL appeal – there’s so much to look at and enjoy!
(And side note, Vegas is so family friendly now…!)
This trip, being so close to Chinese New Year, meant that all the hotels and shops had tons of
beautiful decorations up to celebrate the Year of the Dog.
We stayed at the Venetian Palazzo Hotel and they were all about Shar pei dogs and crazy color.
(This next dog was 15 feet high!)
The Bellagio Conservatory was decked out to honor the Year of the Dog too.
And you can’t go in the Bellagio without appreciating Chihuly’s “Fiori di Como” glass sculpture that hangs from the ceiling in the lobby.
If I ever win a billion dollars I’m having the artist make me one of these too….
Speaking of visual – I love to see all the beautiful touches that the hotels add to make
their facilities beautiful…..don’t you?
How about the new Chandelier Restaurant at Caesar’s palace – where you dine right INSIDE a three story chandelier?
And we love a stroll through the shops – where you can spend $10,000+ on a PURSE. (My gosh I’d be afraid to use it…!)
But, seriously, how cute are these window displays? WOOF!
And of course you can’t forget how amazing the views are along the strip, can you?
And the dancing water show never disappoints….nor does the color everywhere!
And who can resist a stop in the M&M and Coca Cola Store? NOT ME FOR SURE!
Hubby and I tried the Coke Float Sampler -with assorted sodas (Grape, Orange, Cherry, Sprite, etc) lots of yummy sips!
Was very tempted to buy this for my desk…. A T-Rex made from coke cans!
And had the pleasure of meeting up with an old high school friend – first time we’ve seen each other since graduation day!
Let’s just say we were active and on the move…..
And of course had the meet-up that made the trip possible…Elton John’s concert….
And if you are interested in seeing the drama when Sir Elton walked off the stage during a song, check THIS out.
And two other fun things – first we stayed at the Venetian Palazzo where they have painted the pool in honor of me….
And I found it amusing that every thing we had sitting out in our hotel room (like reading glasses next to the bed) the maid
placed on top of a diagonally folded wash cloth. Never had that before….odd don’t you think?
And I’m saving this next photo for last because it’s just SO Vegas.
A vending machine that sells comfortable shoes. HA!
(I noticed that you don’t get to see what the shoes look like before you buy them –
and I think that’s because for women who have to walk a lot in uncomfortable shoes, WHO CARES what they look like!
