Frivolous Friday:

Yep, this happened #1:

I strolled around Balboa Park AFTER DARK twice this week!   (Keep reading to see why…) If you haven’t been there at night, you should definitely head on over –

all of our amazing, historic buildings are beautifully lit with lights that change colors – it really is a sight to see.

Here’s the gorgeous Museum of Man and the California Tower….

And in case you want the whole scoop about the lighting — The lighting project removed existing outdoor light fixtures and replaced them with Red, Green, Blue LED lights, which are programmable in 2,700 color hues.

The project was a partnership between the City of San Diego, SDG&E and CleanTECH San Diego.

Yep, this happened #2:

My hubby and I are taking A HUGE BITE OUT OF San Diego Theatre week!  CRUNCH!

We will have seen FIVE performances this week at $30 per ticket instead of $100 (or more)

How fun is THAT????  And Theatre week is still running this weekend, through Sunday – so GO!

HERE is their website – just click to see what amazing shows await!

Keep reading to see my Restaurant recommendation if you are headed to one of the shows at The Old Globe

Yep, this happened #3:

Tried a new restaurant before one of the Old Globe shows – it was handy because we parked near the Organ Pavilion in Balboa Park and

just walked to the restaurant and then back to the theatre — not having to worry about driving around looking for parking made the whole experience more relaxing.

We enjoyed dinner at Barrio Star.  Their ambiance was just perfect – so colorful and fun, yet small and intimate.

I had their Barrio Bowl which was coconut rice, frijoles de la olla, chicken and steamed purple

and green kale, topped with pico and cilantro lime sauce….it was delish!    We used a groupon so it was a great deal and we

enjoyed it so much we decided we will definitely visit again!

What can I say:  I’m Feeling Blessed!
