Frivolous Friday: A Call for Volunteeers, Eating a Heart for Breakfast and a Day FILLED with Chocolate

Frivolous:  carefree and not serious, lighthearted, giddy

Guess what three things happened this week in between all my portrait sessions and retouching work???
Well…let me tell you….

Yep, this happened #1:

I put out a call for a couple of volunteers because I wanted to try something new!  Every now and then I have an idea to try a new photography technique…

Naturally, I don’t want to waste my client’s time while I’m trying something new, so I ask a friend, past clients, etc if they

want to join me for an adventure in exchange for some portraits.

This time I wanted to try a technique that involved photographing waves crashing on the rocks with a SLOW SHUTTER

[the goal is to have the waves blur and look sort of cloud like while the rocks and the people stay crisp and sharp]

Jeff and Anna volunteered to join me in La Jolla at sunset and hold really still while the wave rolled in around their feet —

and here’s the result along with a few other captures that I love….

If you would like to be on my list for future Volunteer “Model” calls, just let me know!

Yep, this happened #2:

Ate a heart for breakfast my hubby did to, and we loved it!

Here’s the backstory:   Hubby and I don’t really celebrate Valentine’s day — not because we have something against it,

but we just think it’s unnecessary  because every day is Valentine’s day for us.  (Okay – GAG on that, but do you know what I mean? We’re just over all the hype… and heaven knows I don’t need a big box of chocolates!)

We exchange cards and cook a special dinner and that’s about it.    Well, this Valentine’s day I decided to step it up a teeny bit and treat the love of my life

to a cute egg on toast for breakfast…thanks to pinterest for the idea.  Supreme crafty cooking, don’t you think?

(And I might make this for our next house guest too….it’s easy!)

Yep, this happened #3:

Had an absolute blast at the Escondido Chocolate Festival last weekend!

My sister and her hubby met us for a fun afternoon strolling around tasting chocolate and sampling adult beverages.

Some of 24 the yummy tastings included Red Velvet Cake Truffles from Cute Cakes,   White Chocolate Scones from The Grand Tea Room,

Dark Chocolate Mole Chicken Enchiladas from La Tapatia Mexican Restaurant,

and Chocolate Peanut Butter Stout from O’Sullivans Irish Pub.

We even tasted chocolate with purple butterflies stamped on it!  (How Savoring The Sweet Life Photography is THAT?)

There were too many amazing samples to eat in one afternoon, so we brought some home and enjoyed them the next day.

What a fun and sweet afternoon – we will definitely go again!

What can I say:  I’m Feeling Blessed!
