Frivolous Friday: An Elephant’s Pedicure, Baby Hippo Bubbles, Out with my Besties and a Farm Fresh Test
Frivolous: carefree and not serious, lighthearted, giddy
Guess what three things happened this week in between all my portrait sessions and retouching work???
Well…let me tell you….
Yep, this happened #1:
I watched an elephant get a pedicure!
This is kind of a complicated photo but see if you can see Tembo the elephant, putting her foot out for her
keepers to treat. And you can also see her trunk waiting to be fed delicious snacks at the same time.
(Can you imagine how awesome to be getting a pedi WHILE eating treats? Talk about decadent!)
And I’ll tell you something else you might not know
– in 1974 Tembo the elephant appeared in the Born Free TV series, and when that production wrapped, she spent the next several years working in Hollywood…
A few years later she moved to the San Diego Zoo, where she spends her time with her pachyderm pals.
Tembo has found another creative outlet for her talents, as well: she is an accomplished artist, working in acrylic paints to create canvas masterpieces — how fun is that?
I also took some time to watch Funani, a 4 month old baby hippo play in the water with his mom.
Is there anything cuter than baby hippo bubbles??? I don’t think so….
Except maybe a super soft looking llama nose? Are you just itching to pet her nose too?
And of course this photo begs two questions – First, should I tell her she has lettuce stuck in her teeth? and secondly, “Is your mama a llama?”
Yep, this happened #2:
This week I finally had my chance to see a performance of Shen Yen!
(The show is classical Chinese dance, gorgeous orchestral works, brilliant costumes, and innovative effects…it’s a pretty amazing theatrical experience.)
And we had FRONT ROW tickets so it was triple AMAZING – we could easily see into the orchestra pit and watch the musicians creating the most beautiful music –
between that and the amazing color and movement happening on the stage, it was almost sensory overload!
And as a side note, only one of these photos is mine (can you guess which one? Lol!)
Of course there’s no photography in the theatre, so I borrowed a few from their website to share with you.
It was wonderful to have shared it with my Besties!
I am so thankful for all my friends but these two in particular have made my life so happy! We have had so much fun, laughed so hard,
got into the wackiest situations ever and probably have even shared a few tears….I’m so glad God put them in my life! (Hugs to Betsy and Wendy!)
Yep, this happened #3:
I’m trying a subscription of Farm Fresh produce delivered to my door. It’s organic, so fresh and delish!
You place your order online each week and local farmers fill the box and set it on your porch.
Pretty easy — and it makes me feel like I’m helping a small business farmer,
and I’m being healthy….
And can I just point out how adorable these “Brown Beech Mushrooms” are?
I’d never seen them before so I had to try some in my box – they were delish!
(The recipe I made with them is HERE. I added baby bok choy and left out the Oyster Sauce because ick.)
What can I say: I’m Feeling Blessed!
sessions are an hour long with unlimited poses, unlimited outfits, unlimited fun!
