Frivolous Friday: Riding the Waves, a Psychedelic Picnic and the Happiness Project

Frivolous:  carefree and not serious, lighthearted, giddy

What three things happened this week in between all my portrait sessions and retouching work???
Well…let me tell you….

Yep, this happened this week #1:

Enjoyed an walk on the beach,  then a bit of boogie board riding in the waves.

Yep.  This Happened this week  #2

And speaking of happiness, guess what my friends and I did after that amazing boogie board time?

We had a potluck picnic on the beach!   And the psychedelic beach towel definitely added to the festive fun!

We each brought a little something to share and created a masterpiece of a meal.

YAY for friends and YUM for friends with food!

All in all, I was only away from home for a few hours but it positively impacted my whole day!

Yep, this happened this week  #3:

Just finished reading the bestselling book “The Happiness Project.”

It’s been my treadmill reading for a couple weeks and really made the time FLY by!

*I found out about the book by listening to the author’s award winning podcast “Happier”
and then decided I had to read the book.

The book follows the author’s year long quest to increase happiness in her life.

The full title is
The Happiness Project: Or, Why I Spent a Year Trying to Sing in the Morning, Clean My Closets, Fight Right, Read Aristotle, and Generally Have More Fun”

Here’s something she talked about —

Have you ever noticed that having something fun on your calendar makes you happier in the days/weeks before?  That Sweet Anticipation?

Might be a dinner date with hubby, lunch with friends,  tickets for the theatre or sporting event,  a picnic at the beach, summer vacation or even a weekend get away…..you know it’s coming and it makes you a teeny bit happier?

Well it turns out that having fun plans does make you happier –
– it is actually a proven technique for increasing your happiness!

So make time for fun in advance and you’ll have even more happiness than just that one time fun!

So get on over to your calendar and write something fun on it!

What can I say:  I’m Feeling Blessed!
