Frivolous Friday: Visiting the Grand Canyon, Clinging on the Ledge and Me in an Asylum

Frivolous:  carefree and not serious, lighthearted, giddy

Guess what happened this week in between all my portrait sessions and retouching work???
Well…let me tell you….

Yep, this happened #1:
Snuck away for a little vacation with the hubs.  We jumped on Route 66 and headed to the Grand Canyon.
Our hotel was right on the South Rim of the canyon so we had lots of opportunities to hike and enjoy the views….like this one of sunset at Hopi Point.
And in this capture you can see a bit of the Colorado River way down at the bottom of the canyon -hard to believe that teeny little river carved this amazing canyon!

Okay, here’s the story about this next photo.  I need your opinion on this:

I’m walking along the rim and notice a man is staring at me.

I wonder what’s up and I must have had a funny look on my face because he says,

“Sorry for staring, but can I just say — you look ready for adventure.”  Then he smiles and walks off.

I think that’s a compliment…..or is that code for saying “you look like a dork.”  What do you think?

Yep, this happened #2:
After a few days at the Grand Canyon (make sure you check out my blog with the whole adventure story from bats and chipmunks to fossils and trails to the cutest baby trees you ever did see,)
we jumped back in our car and continued on to Sedona, Arizona.
Oh. My. Gosh. It’s so beautiful.
(I’d driven through Sedona once before, but this time we stayed three nights and really had time to explore and appreciate the beauty.)
We did a bunch of hiking during the day and after dark (it’s an International Dark Sky Community!)
and my favorite was the climb of Cathedral Rock –which also happens to provide the photo op of a lifetime!
Read the whole story and watch me climb this baby on my blog.

Yep, this happened #3:

Ate some amazing food along the way – most memorable was lunch at the Asylum (a restaurant and hotel in an old historic mental hospital from the Gold Mining era)

My sammie was sumptuous home roasted turkey with chipotle apricot chutney, red onions, water cress, extra creamy cream cheese w/ crisp lettuce, on perfect “just ever so” lightly toasted bread.

Accompanied by  melt in your mouth fries and an icy cold Birch Beer. (Ever had a Birch Beer?  It’s an east coast soda- non alcoholic and tastes somewhere between a root beer and a cream soda — delish!)

What can I say:  I’m Feeling Blessed!
