Frivolous Friday: Sunrise on the Bay and Munching my way through Restaurant Week

Frivolous:  carefree and not serious, lighthearted, giddy

Yep, this happened #1:

On Wednesday, I set my alarm for 4:45am, grabbed coffee and my camera and jumped on a Sunrise Boat Cruise of San Diego Bay.

I’m part of a photography meet up group and couldn’t resist a new view of my favorite city!

Captain Randy guided our small boat out into the bay before the sun rose, when everything was bathed in a warm orange glow….

And it wasn’t long before the sun peeked out from behind the city and I was ready for it!

The weather was perfect, the water smooth and the sights SPARKLING!~

Me before dawn all ready to go.  And dressed, as you might notice as though I was about to step into a blizzard at the North Pole.

Cuz that’s how I roll.  Have I ever mentioned how much I. Hate. Cold.

I also made a new friend (who was NOT as bundled up as I was)….he was enjoying the view from atop a tuna boat!

(And yes this really was the color of the sky — pretty amazing don’t you think?)

And as the cruise ended, I couldn’t help noticing how wonderful this particular view of our amazing city is —
San Diego as framed by the Coronado Bay Bridge.

I am enjoying San Diego Restaurant Week! Have you tried any new places?
Hubs and I tried McCormick and Schmick’s in the Omni Hotel – near Petco Park. (It’s normally above our preferred price range, but not this week!)
I had a yummy lunch of crab cakes and a “Little Gem Salad” with goat cheese, heirloom beets and candied nuts with lemon vinigrette. SO GOOD!
And the service was top notch – I felt like a celebrity or something.
We were downtown seeing The Little Mermaid at the Civic Theatre. We are season ticket holders and we have a formula for show days:
we arrive early to park and then stroll through the Gaslamp Quarter on our way lunch. This week it was an especially yummy 5 Star meal.

Such a fun and relaxing day!
(And restaurant week continues this weekend – check out their website!)
